Karnataka State Government Rejects NEP 2020 And Will Issue State-Centered Education Policy

NEP 2020: Karnataka State Government has decided to frame a new State-Government Education policy within a week. Furthermore, the State Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar mentioned in the tweet that Karnataka Government will not follow the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 as it is incompatible with this advanced digital era. 

A meeting was conducted in the presence of the Chief Minister today, Aug 21, at Vidhansoudha, along with the Vice Chancellors and academicians, to discuss the pros and cons of NEP policy. 

Karnataka State Government plans to come up with a New Education Policy which gives a good quality of education to state children and prepares them to compete nationally and internationally.

In some states, such as Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra states, the NEP policy was not implemented but was implemented in Karnataka State. In addition, the State Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar says the education policy should first be implemented from the primary section; unfortunately, the state has not implemented it correctly. Earlier, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah was against the NEP education policy, stating the policy is not in accord with the federal system. 

Furthermore, the Karnataka government has decided to continue with the three-year undergraduate program rather than the four-year one. The new education policy framework will be announced shortly, which abides by all the rules and regulations and the compatible with the federal system.
