JEE Main 2023 Jan 24 Exam Shift 1 Ends: Check NTA Guidelines on Unfair Exam Practices
NTA has released guidelines on unfair exam practices for JEE Main 2023.
JEE Main 2023: The first shift of day 1 of JEE Main exam 2023 has been successfully conducted today. The Joint Admission Examination (JEE Main 2023) is the third-largest entrance examination in India. After several complaints of plagiarism, impersonation and other anomalies plagued the engineering entrance exam over the previous two years, the National Testing Agency (NTA) came under fire. Hence, NTA JEE guidelines were released for the same.
JEE Main 2023: NTA JEE Guidelines for Unfair Means
According to the NTA, using unfair methods is any practice that gives a candidate an unfair advantage over other candidates. The following behaviors are viewed as unjust for JEE Main Exam 2023.
- Possessing any forbidden things or articles, including stationery, communication devices, accessories, food items, ornaments, or any other information relevant or irrelevant to the examination in the relevant paper.
- Impersonating the candidate while taking the NTA JEE Main 2023 exam or creating materials to be copied.
- Giving or receiving direct, indirect, or attempted help of any form to other candidates who are engaging in malpractices.
- Breaking any NTA-issued guidelines or examination guidelines related to the JEE 2023 exam.
- Attempting to make contact with or communicate with anybody other than the exam personnel while taking the test in the testing facility.
- Threatening any candidate or examination official, or anybody involved in the administration of the test.
- Entering and leaving the JEE exam center using force.
- Any other errors that the NTA has designated as unfair means.
- Even if discovered at a later time, any candidate found to have more than one Application Number will be classified as UFM and will face serious consequences.

In order to discourage JEE Main Unfair Practices 2023, the NTA has issued a warning to candidates, stating that they risk being excluded from future JEE Main exams for three years if discovered to have engaged in unethical behavior. Cheaters will additionally "be booked under the Unfair Means" (UFM) case and shall also be liable for criminal action and/or any other action as considered fit.
