BPSC 67th Prelims to be Held in One Shift and Follow the Old Exam Pattern

Officials from the Bihar Public Service Commission will hold the preliminary test according to the same pattern as the last year. Moreover, the exam will take place on a single day, 21 September. BPSC chairman Atul Prasad, chief secretary Amir Subhani, and chief minister Nitish Kumar jointly took this decision in a high-level meeting.
Furthermore, officials coordinate among themselves and the respective district magistrates to conduct the state-level exam in various good-quality exam centers. The exam took place on 8 May, but authorities canceled it due to leaking the question paper’s contents. After that, on 30 August, BPSC released a notification about the new exam pattern, which invoked massive student protests in Bihar. The new pattern involved scheduling the exam in two shifts- on 20 and 22 September and calculating the score using the equi-percentile equating technique.
The newly introduced percentile system did not sit well with the candidates of the examination, who staged widespread protests in Patna. The students demanded the rollback of the new changes and even incited police lathi-charge due to their protests. However, officials relented to students’ demands and released the old exam pattern. Now, some six lakh candidates will sit for the upcoming BPSC exam.
