VGU has been chosen by Institutions' Innovation Council 3.0 (2020-21) Annual Performance University Category as one of the leading institutions driving innovation in India. The university has been awarded a four-star rating from MOE’s Innovation Cell and IIC for conducting various activities prescribed by Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India to promote Innovation and Start-up in the campus during the IIC calendar year 2020-21. Vivekananda Global University is among the top four universities that have received four-star ratings.
Among approximately 250 higher education institutions, only 69 HEI’s received the four-star rating. In Rajasthan, only four higher education institutes received the four-star rating: University of Engineering and Management, Manipal University, and I.I.S. University and Vivekananda Global University whereas MNIT, Rajasthan University,J.K.Laxmipat University, Amity University, received a star rating of 3.5.
The Ministry of Education, Govt. of India has established MoE’s Innovation Cell (MIC) to systematically foster the culture of innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are in their formative years.
MIC has envisioned encouraging the creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs) across selected HEIs. Networks of these IICs are established to promote innovation in the Institution through innumerable modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campuses. The major focus of IIC is to create a vibrant local innovation eco-system and Start-up support mechanism in HEIs, prepare the institute for the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements Framework. It establishes a function eco-system for scouting ideas, pre-incubating ideas, and developing the better cognitive ability for technology students.
IICs primarily conducts various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by central MIC in a time-bound fashion, identify and reward innovations and share success stories, also organize periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators, Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations, IIC have also created an institution's innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by institution's faculty and students. Organize Hackathon, ideation competition, mini-challenges etc., with the involvement of industries.
This recognition is testimony to Vivekananda Global University's continuing efforts to nurture innovation, be it VGU's ACIC VGU Foundation-Vivekananda Global University is the host institution for India's 1st Functional Atal Community Innovation Centre chosen by Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), Niti Aayog, and a Government of India's initiative to support the entrepreneurial ecosystem at the community level.
ACIC - VGU Foundation aims to work on thrust areas like indigenous craft, design, lifestyle products, agri - tech and sustainability. The university's committed efforts towards promoting excellence and innovative thinking are visible as it introduced the E-Cell under which various clubs Chestha, Decoller, VCTA, and SIDBI Swavalamban, serve as a platform and provide its member full support from idea generation to incubation, every help is provided to a potential entrepreneur.
Vivekananda Global University has established Rural TBI funded by DST Rajasthan. The incubator has 5000sq. ft. space and facilities related to prototyping and agriculture. The thrust areas of the RTBI are: Rural Development, Agriculture, Handicraft, Water management, Waste Management. Currently, around 06 incubates are there under RTBI.
The university offers courses in Engineering, Architecture, Design, Pharmacy, Forensic Science, Basic and Applied Science, Management, Commerce, Law and Agriculture. Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur (VGU) is recognized by University grant commission, the council of Architecture, BAR Council of India, Department of Agriculture, GOR, Pharmacy council of India.
University is categorized as Band ‘A’ institution (rank between 06-25) in the category of university & deemed to be university (Private –Self Financed) in Atal Ranking of institutions on innovation achievement (ARIIA) 2020 by Ministry of Education, GOI. The university focuses on research, innovation, Entrepreneurship and Placements. This is being done with the help of various collaborations with International universities such as Swansea University, Edinburgh Napier University and research labs such as CEERI Pilani, CSIO Chandigarh.

VGU has a strong global and national level startup network and outreach, a highly experienced team, a dedicated college on entrepreneurship and a unique industry integration model. University provides a fellowship of INR. 50,000 to its alumni for starting new ventures. VGU has a very strong research and innovation ecosystem.
The university currently has more than 250+ faculty members. University has applied for 52 patents in the last year. VGU has established a strong Mentor Network for startups. With a network of over 50+ mentors, VGU commands one of the strongest networks in the State of Rajasthan. Most of the mentors are established entrepreneurs and experienced professionals who are closely associated with the university & visit the university regularly to guide the students and startups on campus. There is an extensive list of mentors from top-rated institutions as part of the Panel, including various experts such as VCs, startup mentors, crowdfunding experts, finance experts, technology experts, business consultants, startup veterans, serial entrepreneurs, and more.
The university is strongly connected with societal projects & MSME’s. University is impanelled with MSME Ministry as Technical Agency under Sfurti Scheme for cluster development and is working closely with Bureau of energy efficiency, DCCH, Ministry of Jal Shakti etc. To make it work, the better university is connected with local Industry Association such as Sitapura Industry Association, Malviya Nagar & Bassi Industrial Association.
The university has been recognized as Nodal Training Institute under the Manage scheme for the Ministry of Agriculture. VGU serves as a platform for the enthusiastic students to get trained as per the evolution in the jobs requirements University focus on holistic development of students, which is an amalgamation of practical as well as conventional learning, with major focus on grooming the future generation on becoming job creators rather than job seeker.
