Parul University launches a Centre of Excellence in Advanced Manufacturing Research & Technology with ₹1.17 crore support from the Government of Gujarat to boost Industry 4.0 research, innovation, and industry collaboration.
Vadodara-based Parul University proudly announces the commencement and establishment of the Centre of Excellence (COE) in Advanced Manufacturing Research and Technology, in collaboration with the Industrial Commissionerate of the Government of Gujarat.
With a total project outlay of ₹6 crore, including valued financial support of ₹1.17 crore sanctioned by the Industries Commissionerate, Government of Gujarat, the establishment of the Centre underscores Parul University’s role as a key contributor to Gujarat’s industrial and technological advancement, while strengthening industry engagement and promoting hands-on research, innovation, and real-world problem solving among students.
The CoE is a strategic initiative that will enhance the institute's capabilities in advanced manufacturing by bringing together the most innovative technologies, applied research, and modern industrial practices. The centre will be a hub for innovation, research, and skill development, aligning with the requirements of Industry 4.0 and the continually evolving future manufacturing ecosystems.
The primary focus of the Centre will be on strengthening partnerships between universities and industry, particularly through collaborative research, industrial testing, validation, and technology support services for MSMEs and large-scale industries. The Centre will actively undertake industry-oriented research projects, sponsored and consultancy-based assignments, product and process optimization studies, prototyping, testing, and technology validation to address real-world manufacturing challenges.
The high-end research infrastructure established at the Centre will enable the execution of faculty-led, student-driven research projects, fostering a strong culture of problem-solving, innovation, and translational research. In addition to research, the Centre will function as a capacity-building and skill-development hub, offering specialized training programmes, certification courses, and industry-focused workshops in advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing. The Centre will also support postgraduate academic programmes, including M.Tech specializations, project work, internships, and thesis research, all closely aligned with industry requirements. Through structured consultancy services, the Centre will provide technical expertise, process improvement solutions, and advanced manufacturing guidance to industries.
Students will significantly benefit from hands-on exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies, live industrial projects, structured training, and research-led learning, thereby enhancing their technical competencies, employability, and workforce readiness. Collectively, the Centre’s research, training, academic, and consultancy activities will contribute to regional industrial growth and workforce development, strongly supporting Gujarat’s vision of emerging as a global hub for manufacturing and innovation.
Dr. Unnati Joshi, Chief Research Officer, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Parul University & Principal Investigator of this project, presented her viewpoint on the initiative, saying, “The launch of the Centre of Excellence in Advanced Manufacturing Research & Technology is an outstanding move towards enhancing Parul University’s ecosystem.
