JoSAA Registration Form 2025: Step-by-Step Guide, Fees & Documents Required

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2025 commenced from Jun 03, 2025 online on the official website. The candidates who have cleared the JEE Main 2025  and JEE Advanced 2025 exam can participate in JoSAA counselling. JoSAA Counselling 2025 is conducted every year for admission into top institutes including 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 26 IIITs and 40 GFTI’s. 

The JoSAA counselling will be conducted in five rounds, including many stages in between. Some stages of JoSAA Counselling includes  filling out the JoSAA application form 2025,  seat allotment, seat acceptance, fee payment and reporting to the allocated colleges.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2025 is set up by the Ministry of Education  to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admissions to 127 institutes for the academic year 2025-26. This includes 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 47 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs).

Step-by-Step Guide to JoSAA Registration

The JoSAA 2025 registration process starts after the release of JEE Main and JEE Advanced results. JoSAA Registration is an important step for candidates to get into NIT’s, IIT’s, IIIT’s and GFTI’s through JEE Advanced and JEE Main Scores. 

For the registration of JoSAA 2025 Counselling, candidates need to provide personal and academic information like Name, DOB, Category, JEE Main or JEE Advanced Roll Number, Boards marks and percentage etc. 

Step 1: Online Registration

Candidates can complete the JoSAA 2025 form-filling process and state their course and institutional preferences on the official website. Only those candidates who have passed JEE Main 2025 and JEE Advanced 2025 are allowed to register for JoSAA 2025 counselling.

• Step 1: Candidates must visit the official website at josaa.nic.in.
• Step 2: Click on the "JoSAA Counselling Registration" link.
• Step 3: Candidates must enter their JEE Main 2025/JEE Advanced 2025 application number and password on the new window before clicking the submit button.
• Step 4: A new window with all the candidate's information (as entered in JEE Main/JEE Advanced) will be displayed after the details have been submitted. Candidates must carefully double-check all the information before changing their passwords.
• Step 5: Candidates will only be permitted to modify their contact information during the JoSAA counselling registration in 2025. During registration, candidates must provide a working phone number or email address.
• Step 6: Students must double-check all the information before clicking the "Submit" button.
• Step 7: After registering, candidates will be able to review their options for engineering streams and institutions (based on their rank). Aspirants must select the academic programmes in the order of their preferences based on availability.
• Step 8: After completing their online choices, candidates must remember to lock them. 

Step 2: Choice Filling

During the JoSAA Choice filling process, candidates need to select their preferred institute and courses that they want to opt for the admission. Based on their JEE Main or JEE Advanced score, and Institute’s cutoff for different courses, candidates need to fill and lock their preferred choices.

JoSAA #year Choice Filling: Important Guidelines

Candidates must enter their selections for the JoSAA #year seat allocation by following the steps below:

• All choices must be filled out by students in order of decreasing preference.
• Candidates will have 10 days to complete their online selections.
• Candidates shouldn't leave their selections till the very last minute. It must be completed as quickly as possible.
• Candidates must carefully choose their academic programmes.
• After the cutoff, candidates won't be able to lock or modify their selection.

Step 3: Seat Allotment

JoSAA 2025 Seat Allotment is a process in which the candidates are allotted seats according to their preference and availability into different NIT’s, IIT’s, IIIT’s and GFTI’s. The seat allotment process is done in online mode to ensure transparency.  There are 5 counselling rounds for JoSAA seat allotment. In every round, the seats are allotted. Candidates should check their seat allotment online and should move ahead with the formalities for accepting the seat.

• The JoSAA 2025 seat allotment result will be announced on the official website by the JoSAA counselling authority.
• To monitor the seat assignment status of JoSAA counselling 2025, students must log in using their application number and password.
• Accepting the given seat without agreeing to participate in the next round, accepting with the intent to participate in the next round, or rejecting the allotted seat without agreeing to participate in the following round, counselling is available to students.

Step 4: Document Verification

Candidates, who are registered, uploaded documents and paid seat acceptance fee, Online document verification will be carried out by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) virtual reporting centres within the scheduled dates. During online document verification, verifying users will verify DOB, Category, PwD, KM and passing status and update accordingly. The following can happen based on the updation of the candidate’s parameters:

• Candidate will remain in this round and seat remains allotted as original allotment
• The candidate's allotted seat would be cancelled in this round and will be moved to the next round and based on the updated eligibility and seat availability, he/she may be allotted a seat in the next round.
• Candidate will be out of the system completely for any further rounds

Based on input provided by verifying users during documents verification, if an allotted seat is being confirmed then “Provisional Admission Letter” or “Seat Cancellation Letter” will be generated in the candidate login.

Step 5: Reporting to the Assigned College

After the seat allotment process, candidates need to report to the assigned colleges. Processes like admission formalities, fee paying, and document submission should be done within the allotted time given by the authorities. Some medical examinations and other formalities are also done as per the requirements of the institute. The candidate should keep in mind that

• Candidates must report to the college allotted to them on the assigned date and time slot.
• They must carry original certificates and documents for completing the admission procedure. 

JoSAA Registration Fee Structure

Many components in the JoSAA fee structure are involved in the whole JoSAA Counselling Process.

1. Registration Cost: There is no registration fee or choice filling fee for JoSAA Counselling.
2.  Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF): The Seat Acceptance Fee is the fee that is paid to confirm your acceptance for the seat allotted. This fee includes a JoSAA processing charge of ₹5,000, which is non-refundable. The remaining amount is adjusted against your admission fee at the admitting institute. Mistakes to Avoid During JoSAA 2025 Registration

During the registration process of JoSAA 2025, candidates make some common mistakes which can cost them the loss of their admission to the college. Here are the common mistakes to avoid during JoSAA 2025 registration to ensure a smooth counselling process and avoid disqualification or seat loss:

•  Missing the Registration Deadline

JoSAA has a fixed deadline for every round of counselling. No extension is given for the registration to all the round of JoSAA counselling 2025. Candidates missing the deadline of the counselling rounds and not registering will prohibit the candidate to participate in further rounds. To avoid the last minute registration rush and missing the registration deadline, candidae should set reminders for the counselling registration dates and register themselves as early as possible.

• Incorrect Choice Filling or Poor Choice Order

For the choice filling process, a good research is to be done to fill the choices . Candidates don't do a full reasearch and either end up not listing all the eligible choices or they fill the choices in the wrong order of thei preference. To avoid the last minute confusion for the choice filling process, candidate should Use the mock choice filling rounds and research previous years’ cut-offs to create a smart preference list. This will help the candidates to attempt the choice filling process smoothly.

• Not Locking their Choices

During the choice locking pocess, If the candidate don’t lock their choices themselves, the system locks them automatically, which might not reflect the actual preference of the candidate. To avoid the hustle, candidate should manually lock the  choices before the deadline and download the locked choices as a PDF form for proof.

• Uploading Incomplete or Blurred Documents

Candidatessometimes add incomplete documents, skips checking the required format of the documents to be submitted or add blurred or low resolution copies of the documents online which can cause the candidates to loose their seats. To avoid that, candidate should download the sample formats from the JoSAA website and get them signed/stamped by the correct authorities.
