How is Counselling Done in MHT CET?

MHT CET counselling is conducted in online mode through a Centralised Admission Process (CAP) Portal. This is a portal which gives seats to eligible candidates based on their MHT CET exam scores, preferences, category, and seat availability in MHT CET participating colleges. The round 2 seat allotment result has been released on Sep  01, 2025. 

The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) is a state-level entrance examination which allows you to get admission into engineering, pharmacy, and agriculture courses in Maharashtra. After the MHT CET Results are released, the counselling process starts. What are the Steps in MHT CET Counselling 2025?

The MHT CET counselling takes place in different steps, such as Registration & Document Upload, Document Verification, Choice Filling and Locking, Seat Allotment Rounds, and Reporting to the Allotted Institute. The detailed steps are given below

Registration & Document Upload 

• You must register on the official CAP portal, i.e. cetcell.mahacet.org, by providing your details and MHT CET credentials.
• After filling out the registration form, scanned copies of the required documents will be submitted on the online platform.

Document Verification

• After uploading documents, verification is done at the Facilitation Centres (FC). 
• If you fail to get the verification process done, you will not be able to proceed towards the choice filling process.

Choice Filling and Locking

• Once the document verification is done, you can fill in and lock your preferences for your colleges and courses.
• Keep in mind to lock the choices to avoid last-minute issues.

Seat Allotment Rounds

• The MHT CET Counselling usually takes place in 3 rounds.
• Round 1 is the Initial seat allotment based on your choices and merit list.
• Round 2 is for the candidates who were not allotted seats in round one or who wish to upgrade from the seat allotted in round 1.
• Round 3 is the Mop-up round, which takes place for vacant seats after Rounds 1 & 2 seat allotment.

Reporting to the Allotted Institute

• Once a seat is allotted, you must accept the seat online.
• You must report physically to the allotted institute.
• Then the admission fee should be paid to the institute to confirm your seat.

Note: Failure to report within the deadline leads to seat cancellation.
