How to Apply for GATE 2026: Step-by-Step Process
The GATE 2026 application process involves a series of step right from meeting the eligibility criteria to printing the application form for future references. Here is the step by step guide on how to apply for GATE 2026:
- Step 1: Candidates must visit the GATE 2026 IISC official website at gate2026.iitg.ac.in, and register through GOAPS 2026 with the help of the candidate's personal login credentials such as name, email ID, phone number, etc.
- Step 2: After entering all the details in the registration portal a One-Time Password (OTP) will be sent to the applicant's given valid email ID and phone number.By using the same OTP, candidates can complete their GATE registration process 2026. A unique enrollment ID will be allotted to the candidates who have successfully registered on the portal.
- Step 3: Candidate’s name, father's name, mother's name, contact details, etc. should be entered along with educational qualification
- Step 4: Next step is to select the paper they wish to appear for in GATE 2026. Once chosen, the GATE paper will not be edited after submitting the application form
- Step 5: Applicants can select three GATE 2026 exam centres from the given list. The first two centres must be from the same zone while the third can be from any regional zone.
- Step 6: Upload the passport-size photos and a scanned copy of the signature and other documents asked by the portal.
- Step 7: Pay the GATE application fee 2026 and submit the form. GATE 2026 application fee can be paid online using net banking/debit card/credit card.

- Details of the valid Identity Document* (ID) (The original ID must be brought to the examination hall).
- Net-banking/debit/credit card information for GATE fee payment.
- A valid identity document is a passport, a PAN card, a voter ID, an Aadhaar-UID, a college ID, an employee ID, or a driving license.
- Colored and visible picture on a white or very light background which occupies 50% of the area in the photograph.
- Scanned copy of the signature in a rectangular box of 2 cm x 7 cm size on A4 white paper.
