The national-level teacher eligibility test, called CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test), is conducted by the CBSE in two sessions every year. Approximately 2.3 million to 2.5 million students appear for the exam each year. The exam is typically held in two phases annually: the January session and the July session.
However, the June session could not be held in 2025. The conducting body has scheduled the December session for February 8, 2026. CTET Exam 2026 Overview
The frequency of the CTET exam is twice (January and July) in a year by NTA at various exam centres across India. Following the last year's exam pattern, the exam duration of the CTET 2025 exam will be 150 minutes for 150 questions in each paper (Paper I and Paper II). All students are advised to familiarise themselves with their subject combination and eligibility criteria for the CTET Paper I and Paper II exams first.

Ques: What is the CTET exam?
Ans: The CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) is an all-India level eligibility test for candidates who want to teach in government schools in Classes I to VIII in schools.
Ques: Why should I take the CTET?
Ans: The basic eligibility criteria for teaching in government schools, such as KVS or NVS, or many schools, is CTET. Apart from this, for the state-level BPS Teacher Recruitment Exam, CTET is a necessary eligibility criterion.
