7th Grand Convocation at Mangalayatan University, Aligarh on 19th May 2019
Mangalayatan University situated near Aligarh is a State-Private University, recognized by the UGC. The University is also a member of AIU. The University celebrated its 7th Grand Convocation on the Aligarh campus. The campus is spread over 70 acres surrounded by greenery. Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, MP and President of ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) as the Chief Guest, Shri Achyutanand Mishra, as the Honorable Visitor and Prof. KVSM Krishna, the Vice Chancellor of the University presided over the programme in the presence of all the students and research scholars, prestigious academic faculties, Board of Governors, supporting staff among others.
A total of 742 students were granted degrees including 35 Gold medals to meritorious students, and 3 Ph.D degrees. Dr. Kumar Vishwas and Tarik-al-Gurg (the executive authority of Dubai Care) also received Honorary D.Litt degrees. All those who were assembled paid tribute by maintaining a minute’s silence for the former chancellor, Shri Gopal Das Neeraj.
Chief Guest Dr. Sahasrabuddhe, in his address, said that India still has some constraints and challenges in its higher education sector. He also said that, in this scenario, both theoretical knowledge and practical or vocational training must be given to the students promoting creative experiments and innovative research and that private universities like Mangalayatan University can improve the status of Higher education in the country.
The Honorable Visitor, Shri Achyutanand Mishra shared his thoughts on the progress India is seeing in the 21st Century. He motivated the students saying that in the sector of engineering & technology, India is going towards the fourth industrial revolution. He said that it is the right time for the students to aim high, and prosper fast.
Mangalayatan University is an institution that offers higher education based on values, high morale, and ethical principles. The annual report was presented by Prof. KVSM Krishna, the Vice Chancellor of the University which noted some of the important achievements made by the University. He informed the gathering that the University is taking special measures to start new employment supportive courses in media, fine arts, animation & graphics, digital arts, etc from the next academic year. He also spoke about the plans of the Journalism & Mass Communication Department to conduct courses in filmmaking, film direction, anchoring, script writing, advertising & PR, etc. The plans of the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Pharmacy to implement similar new productive courses in their respective disciplines were also shared by him.
