Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission is regulated by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) through National Eligibility Cum Entrance Exam (NEET). The NEET examination is compulsory for admission to MBBS or BDS programs in any Indian state. There are 7400 MBBS and 2873 BDS seats available for admission in Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS admissions, students must check the NEET eligibility criteria 2023. Students planning to apply for MBBS admission should satisfy all the basic eligibility criteria, including the NEET scores.

Listed below are the Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS admission eligibility criteria.

  • Students must possess a minimum age limit of 17 years old. 
  • The upper age limit of 25 years for general categories, while for SC/ST/OBC, it is 30 years, should be satisfied.
  • Students must be Indian citizens.
  • Students must have their Nativity Certificate. The permanent resident certificate will not be accepted instead of the nativity certificate.
  • Students should have documents like parents' birth certificate, ration card, SSLC/10/12 certificate, or no graduate certificate if parents are not literate for the document verification.
  • Students from other states and are a resident in Tamil Nadu will not be considered as domicile candidates. Those students will fall under the open category.
  • A student must have completed their class 12 or equivalent examination from schools with Physics, Chemistry, Biology. Biotechnology and English as the main subjects.
  • Students who fall under the unreserved category must secure at least 50% in PCB-E subjects, while SC/ST/OBC candidates must have a minimum of 40% marks in PCB-E and persons with disability should have 45% of minimum marks.

Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission Reservation Policy 2023

Students in the merit list of Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS 2023 will be called for counseling as per the allotted time. Students are requested to choose the college as per their choices, state merit, seat availability, reservation criteria, and other factors during the Tamil Nadu NEET counseling process.

Steps to Apply for Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission 2023

The Directorate of Medical Education (DME) of Tamil Nadu will notify the MBBS/BDS 2023 admission application form in the first week of June 2023, after the declaration of NEET exam results. Students who satisfy the eligibility criteria of TN MBBS must submit the online admission form within the respective deadlines.

  1. Visit the official website of the Directorate of Medical Education (DME).
  2. Click on the Tamil Nadu MBBS Registration.
  3. Filling in the personal details and uploading the relevant documents.

    • Upload the scanned passport size photograph and signature
  4. Preview your application before submitting it.
  5. When all the information is correct, click on submit.
  6. The page will direct you to the payment portal.
  7. Payment can proceed only through online or offline mode.
    • INR 500 for government quota seats
    • INR 1000 for management quota seats

Documents Required for Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission 2023

Students should submit the relevant document while filling the application and also during the document verification. If any document is found left or is invalid, the admission for such aspirants will be canceled.

Tamil Nadu MBBS Counselling 2023

DME conducts Tamil Nadu MBBS admission through offline counseling to fill out the 85% of state quota seats from government medical and dental colleges and for admission to private medical and dental colleges located in Tamil Nadu. The counseling body conducts three rounds of counseling. Tamil Nadu NEET counseling 2023 includes a mop-up round. Tamil Nadu MBBS Merit List

The Directorate of Medical Education of Tamil Nadu will release the merit list based on NEET scores. DME authority will publish the Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS 2023 merit list on this official site two weeks before the counseling. It will have Tamil Nadu MBBS state merit rank, names of the student, roll number, All India NEET rank, scores obtained, and other details.
