Important Eligibility Criteria For Admission in IITs

1. Getting Through JEE Main
The IIT admission comprises two parts — JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. The former is preliminary, and the former is the final stage. The former is held to weed out non-serious students.

2. Age Limit For General And Reserved Category Students
For general category students, the minimum age limit is 17 years, and the maximum is 25 years, calculated on October 01, 1993. The upper age limit is relaxable by five years for reserved category students— SC, ST and PwD.

3. Students Must Have Passed All 12th Board Exam in The Admission Year or The Last Year
Admission of students will depend on the year and time they have appeared in class XII. That means for getting admission to any of the institutes of IIT, students should have passed the XII exam in the admission year or the last year.

4. Students Must Not Have Reported to Get Admission to Any of The IIT Institutes or Left Any of Them
Students, who have sought admission to any of the IITs, regardless of whether or not they continued in the programme or accepted the IIT seat by reporting in the past, will be considered ineligible to take JEE Advanced 2020.
