About Post Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities: 

  • Introduction: The Prime Minister new programme was announced in June 2006 for the welfare of Minorities. This Scheme provides a Scholarships for the Meritorious students from the same community. This Scholarship Scheme is awarded for the Higher Secondary Schools/ Colleges/ Universities. 

  • Objective: The Scheme aims to give Scholarships for the meritorious students belonging to social- economically background by providing an opportunity for higher education and increase the rate of employability. 

  • Scholarship Distribution: The Minority communities eligible for this scheme is Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jain, and Zoroastrians (Parsis). A total of 5 lakhs scholarships are distributed as Fresh Scholarships and  Renewal Scholarships. The Distribution of the scholarships is based on the population of the minorities in the states.

Post Matric Scholarships Eligibility:

  • The candidates from Class 11th to Ph.D. are eligible to apply for this scholarship. 
  • Students must have secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final exam.
  • The Annual Income of their parents/guardian from all sources should do not exceed INR 2 lakh.
  • The students should belong to the minority community (Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains and Zoroastrians/Parsis).

Conditions: 

  • Maintainance allowance will be provided to hostellers and day scholars. 
  • Scholarships will not be given to more than two students from the same family. 
  • For the continuation of the scholarship, the students need to maintain the minimum of 50% aggregate in the previous exam. 
  • The student needs to be regular for the class.
  • The migration of the student from one School/ Institute to another is not allowed to apply for the renewal scholarships.
  • If the students violate the School/ Institute rules the scholarships may be suspended or cancelled.
  • If the information mentioned by the candidates are found to be false, there will be cancellation of the scholarship. 
  • The tuition fee and maintenance fee will be directly credited to the student's bank account under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.
  • The students obtaining benefits under this scheme is not allowed to obtain benefits from any other Scheme.

Post Matric Scholarships Rewards Description: 

  • Actual financial assistance is provided for admission & tuition fee and maintenance allowance.
  • Maintainance allowance will be provided to both hostellers and day-scholars.

  • Admission and Tuition fee:
    • For Class XI and XII: INR 7000 per annum
    • For Technical and Vocational Courses: INR 1000 per annum
    • For UG and PG level: INR 3000 per annum 

Maintainance allowance

  • For Class XI and XII including Technical and Vocational courses:
    • INR 380 per month for hosteller
    • INR 230 per month for Day Scholar
  • For UG and PG level:
    • INR 570 per month for hosteller
    • INR 300 per month for Day Scholar
  • For M.Phil & Ph.D:
    • INR 1200 per month for Hosteller 
    • INR 550 per month for Day Scholar
 Application Process

Post Matric Scholarship Application Process: 

  • The scheme is implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
  • It is mandatory for all students to apply online on the website i.e. www.scholarships.gov.in.

Documents Required: 

  • An Income Certificate issued by Competent Authority in State/ Union Governments in respect of parent/ guardian.
  • Self-Certified Community Certificate/ Community Certificate in respect of parent/ guardian.
  • Aadhar Number/ Any Identification Proof.
  • Bank Account Number.

Application Form Last Date:

  • The last date for applying online is 30th September 2018.
 Selection Process

Post Matric Scholarship Selection Process:

Fresh:

  • The number of scholarship for minorities is fixed and limited. The preference is based on the poverty rather than rank. The students need to submit an Income certificate for the selection process. In case of same income, merit shall be provided based on the rank.

Renewal:

  • There is no merit list for renewal scholarships. The students should have maintained at least 50% of aggregate in the previous examination. The student's application is verified by all authorities and approved by State Governments/ Union Territories.
