About Central Sector Scholarship Scheme: 

  • Introduction: The scheme is operational since 2008. The Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students is covered under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students is a merit-cum-means scholarship scheme. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of the results of Senior Secondary Examination. There are more than 82000 fresh scholarships [41000 for girls and 41000 for boys]. The scholarships are provided for the applicants those who are pursuing Graduation and Postgraduation in various colleges and Universities such as Engineering, Medical etc. To get a benefit under Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University, an individual shall furnish proof of possession of Aadhaar or undergo Aadhaar authentication. The students belonging to a reserved category or weaker sections or minorities are eligible based on the merit.

  • Objective: The objective is to provide financial aid to the meritorious students who are from low-income families [less than Rs.8 lakh per annum for the year 2018-19] which would help with their daily expenses while pursuing higher studies. The scheme offers scholarships to those students who have secured more than 80% in the previous examinations. Students pursuing Diploma are not eligible for this Scheme. 50% of the scholarships are for girls to encourage them in studying equivalent to boys. 

  • Distribution: There will be more than 82000 fresh scholarships allocated under this scheme[41000 for girls and 41000 for boys].  Reservations for various category is as follows: For SC - 15 %, ST - 7.5%, OBC - 27%, Handicapped students - 5%. The number of Scholarships allocated to the State Education Board is distributed amongst the passed out of Science, Commerce and Humanities stream with a ratio of 3:2:1. In case, if there is any shortfall in the applications, the scholarships slots will be changed and distributed equally. The rate of scholarship is INR 10000/- per annum at Graduation level for first three years of College and University courses and INR 20000/- per annum at PostGraduation level. Students pursuing professional courses which have a duration for, 5 years then that integrated course would get INR 20000/- per annum in 4th and 5th year.

Central Sector Scholarship Scheme Eligibility:

  • The candidates should have passed 10+2 examination in the relevant stream from the respective Board of Examination for the fresh scholarships.
  • Students pursuing technical courses such as B.Tech., B.Engg would get scholarship up to graduation level.
  • Parents Income should be less than 8 lakhs per annum for the academic year 2018-19.
  • The student who have completed equivalent regular courses (excluding correspondence and distance education courses) from any University/ Institution recognized by the All India Council of Technical Education [AICTE] and University Grants Commission [UGC], Medical Council of India [MCI], Dental Council of India [DCI] and respective authorities.

Conditions: 

  • The candidates should not get benefits from any other scheme. 
  • The students pursuing Diploma courses are not eligible under this scheme. 
  • The students will be able to get benefits under this scheme not exceeding 5 years. 
  • Income certificate needs to be produced only for the freshers. 
  • The students who are beneficial should be under the age group of 18 - 25 years.
  • An application which is not verified either by the Institute or by the concerned State Education Board or by both will be treated as "Invalid‟.
  • An individual must furnish proof of possession of Aadhaar or undergo Aadhaar authentication.
  • The applicants need to have their own their bank accounts to get benefits under the scheme. 
  • Merit list would be generated after the verification of the application.
  • If the student is unable to attend the examination, the scholarship will be given for the next year after submitting the medical certificate and approved by the Institute.  
 Reward Description

Central Sector Scholarship Scheme Rewards Description: 

  • The rate of scholarship is INR 10000/- per annum at Graduation level for first three years of College and University courses and INR 20000/- per annum at PostGraduation level.
  • Students pursuing professional courses which have a duration for, 5 years then that integrated course would get INR 20000/- per annum in 4th and 5th year.

 

 Application Process

Central Sector Scholarship Scheme Application Process: 

  • The scheme is implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
  • It is mandatory for all students to apply online on the website i.e. www.scholarships.gov.in.
  • The online application will be verified in two levels, one is by the Institute where the student is pursuing a degree and the other is by the respective State Education Board.
  • Applicant needs to submit the required documents such as Class 12th mark sheet and Income certificate.

  • Aadhaar Card 
  • Voter identity card
  • Permanent Account Number
  • Passport
  • Driving License
  • Certificate of identity having a photo of such member issued by a Gazetted Officer
  • Identity Card issued by the college or institute or university
  • Any other document with photo specified by the State Government

Application Form Last Date:

  • The last date for applying online is 31st October 2018.
 Selection Process

Fresh: 

  • The candidates should have passed 10+2 examination in the relevant stream from the respective Board of Examination for the fresh scholarships.
  • Students pursuing technical courses such as B.Tech., B.Engg would get scholarship up to graduation level can also apply for this scheme. 
  • Parents Income should be less than 8 lakhs per annum for the academic year 2018-19.

Renewal:

  • The student should have secured 60 % or more in the previous examination.
  • The student must be regular to the class and should have a minimum of  75% attendance.
  • The student should not be involved in any ragging activities inside the campus.
  • The student should not violate the rules of the college.
  • The cancellation will be there for those who have submitted or given wrong information.
