 About AAUW International Fellowship Program
  • AAUW International Fellowship are awarded for full-time study or research in the United States to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • Both graduate and postgraduate studies at accredited U.S. institutions are supported.
  • At the time of applying for the fellowship, female candidates must have applied to their proposed institutions of study.
  • Till date International Fellowships have been awarded to more than 3,300 women from more than 130 nations.
  • Up to five International Fellowships for master’s/first professional degrees will be renewable for a second year
  • A limited number of awards are available to GWI members for study or research in any country other than their own. 
  • Applicants must be conducting a full year of study or research. International Fellowships do not provide funding for a partial year of study or research
  • Master’s/first professional degree fellowships are intended for master’s or professional degree-level programs such as J.D., M.F.A., L.L.M., M.Arch., or medical degrees such as M.D., D.D.S., etc.
  • Doctoral fellowships are intended for doctorate degrees, such as Ph.D. or Ed.D.
  • Term of the Fellowship: July 1, 2016–June 30, 2017
  • Last Date to apply: December 1, 2017, by 11:59 p.m. Central Time is the deadline for submitting an online application, recommendations, and supporting documents.
  • Notification of decisions e-mailed to all applicants. When April 15 falls on a weekend, notifications will be emailed on the next business day. AAUW is not able to honor requests for earlier notification, April 15, 2018.
  • Fellowship year, July 1, 2018–June 30, 2019 
 Reward Description

AAUW International Fellowship Reward:

International Fellowship funds are available for;

  • Educational expenses
  • Living expenses
  • Dependent child care
  • Travel to professional meetings, conferences, or seminars, as long as it does not exceed 10 per cent of the fellowship

 Application Process

AAUW International Fellowship Application Process:

  • Candidates have to apply Online at the official website.
  • Candidates have to provide three recommenders who are professors or professional colleagues. 

Enclosures to be uploaded:

  • Transcripts: Candidates have to upload official transcripts from the college or university where the highest degree was obtained
  • Proof of bachelor’s degree
  • Proof of doctorate degree
  • Official report of TOEFL test scores or waiver request 
  • Letter of admission
  • C.V./Résumé
  • Narratives
  • Budget
 Selection Process

AAUW International Fellowship Selection Process:

  • The International Fellowships Panel shortlists the candidates who becomes the beneficiaries of the Fellowship
  • Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis according to funds available in a given fiscal year.
