Placements and Internships
Chandigarh University is best known for the highest number of campus placements & it has been awarded with the honour of a NAAC A+ grade university whcih provides even more exposure to the students!!
Since I've taken up engineering, I'll mostly jot down the specifics of engineering placements as best as I know:
1. 240 Multi-nationals selected 3750 engineers during 2018-19
2. Companies offering 5 LPA or more salary package are 100+ with 650+ selections & companies offering 10 LPA or more salary package are 25+ with 100+ selections
3. 50+ MNCs among the Top 100 of India has made 500+ offers
4. Top Fortune 500 companies select engineering students in Campus Placements like Microsoft, Amazon, Deloitte, IBM, SAP Labs, Bank of America etc.
5. 118 Core Engineering Companies select approximately 1097 students from varied engineering branches
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- 5 on-campus hostel segregated for boys and girls and 1 off-campus hostel
- Hostels are well-maintained, neat and tidy.
- girls hostels have beauty parlours to indulge themselves
- both boys and girls hostels have gyms, convenience stores and mess along with additional eateries.
- wi-fi free university campus!
- PGs are in plenty adjacent to the university campus.. safe and in affordable prices too!
- food in CU is pretty good as well as affordable and the campus alone is strewn with over 50 -60 food joints.. every nook and corner is occupied with a cafeteria!
Entrance Exams and Admissions
• You can apply for the Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) which provides upto 100% scholarships to hardworking and sincere students. You can even avail scholarships worth Rs. 27 crores.
• COVID-19 Warriors Scholarship Scheme has also been announced wherein, Chandigarh University provides scholarships worth Rs. 5 crores to the wards of corona virus warriors which includes--> doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, housekeeping staff at the hospitals, Police Personnels of all Indian states, Para military forces, media persons & sanitation workers. 10% seats have been reserved in all undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by Chandigarh University for wards of COVID-19 warriors. Students who are admitted under this category would even be eligible for 10% fee rebate throughout the entire tenure of the program.
or you can go to the uni and do it the usual way as well!!
Academics and Faculty
- class timings are from 9:30 am to 4:20 pm
- Projects are assigned from 2nd year onwards as is with BE Biotech. You can start your own venture if you want in the first year itself & if you present your ideas to your department and if they like it, you might even be funded by the university!
- Assigments are added per MSTs of each semester which means 3 assignments for each subject per semester.
Teaching system is elaborate, detailed & advanced:
• Each and every professor here are PhD holders from IIT or other esteemed institution & are extremely well versed in the subjects they're supposed to teach.
• Lectures are delivered with the help of projectors which showcase presentations related to the subject alongside white board and markers so that, if the professor wants, he/she could illustrate his/her lecture that way.
• Each lecture session is interactive. Surprise tests are taken, questions are asked at random.
• Tut lectures (Tutorial sessions) are held to clear doubts of students.
• Laboratories are well equipped with necessary instruments & machines.
• International Nobel laureates are also invited to deliver lectures!!
Clubs and Associations
• Chandigarh University directly provides students with an opportunity to directly participate in India's top-notch competition facilitated by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU): AIU-Northzone and AIU-National Youth Festival where you can participate in any category be it, sports or arts. Auditions are held by faculties who have expertise in the particular field of extracurricular activities & students can apply for it once registration starts.
• Our university fest- Aaghaaz is held every year from September-October for the freshers where they can showcase their talent on stage. Since I aspire to be an engineer alongside a singer, I had sung on my first day at Aaghaaz and never looked back since!!
• Pratibha Talent Hunt show, a competition to present your vocal and dancing abilities
• You can also part take in the Punjab State Youth Fest in any category you want to!
• Tech Invent is a technical event wherein you can showcase your creativity in fields of technology!

Entrance Exams & Admissions : This is true that anyone can get into CU. Getting into CU is not a tough job but to remain in CU is tough. CU is really strong in its disciplinary grounds and manages a very strong student care forum. Examinations are conducted very seriously and only eligibles are promoted. Any student having a 60% or above in their 10+2 can get into CU and for reserved categories, it is 5% less. CU does not have any entrance examination. It conducts an examination known as CUCET prior to admission for scholarship purposes. the admission procedure is very simple and online. Online and offline admission forms are available which needs to be filled and after the first-semester payment is done, admission is completed. No cutoff as such. For Btech courses the student must have PCMB in their 10+2.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The elebility criteria for getting into CU is not that hard to meet. It only needs the student to acquire a 65% or above in their 10+2 for general students and for reseerved catagories the criteria gets redeemed by 5%. 1) Btech in CSE/ECE/Civil/Mechanical/mechatronis require PCB in 10+2 whereas BE in biotech or foodtech doesn't have any such criteria as it can be PCB or PCM or PCMB. From this year chandigarh universiy has arranged for a common entrace test which is applicable for scholarship purposes.(CUCET) To avail merit based scholarships student must attempt CUCET prior to admission. 2) There is no entrance examination. CUCET( chandigarh university common entrance test) is conducted by the university only for students willing to take up scholarships. 3) Typical cutoff for any course is 65% or above in 10+2 for general category and 55% for reserved catagories.
Entrance Exams & Admissions : For admission we need to clear either cucet or jee mains for engineering. One should be qualified in 12th boards with atleast 50% . I had given jee mains as an entrance test. It depends on the number of students appearing in the exam.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : CUCET and JEE are compulsory to take admission to CU. Please refer to the university website for more information. You need to have a minimum of 55% in plus two.
