Placements and Internships

3.5

The students get an internship only after they are placed and in the same company. However, I did not sit for placement and hence, I had to look for my internship elsewhere.

Students graduating from this course are offered roles in the various departments like structures, design and mechanical analysis.

The average salary that the Students who graduated in the 2019 batch have received is around 3.5LPA. The highest salary figure being around 6LPA. The number of students that get placed, who've graduated from this course, every year is around 50% of the total class strength of this course.

The college has a very strong alumni network and hosts about two alumni meetings every year where the students and alumni get to interact with one another.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4.5

The college has three hostels on campus and the hostel fees vary between 60,000 and 1 Lakh.

There are 20+ PGs and flats for students to rent around the college within a radius of 1Km.

The food in the college is mediocre, mostly South Indian food and it costs about 50 to 100 rupees per meal.

The classrooms and labs are well maintained with top of the line equipment in the laboratories. There is free wifi in college to use during a college day with a data limit of 1GB per day. The washrooms are well maintained with cleaning every 3 hours.

The college also has a new meditation center where students can come and meditate to refresh their minds during college hours.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

The eligibility criteria for admission into the college for this course can be either diploma, 11th, and 12th or PUC. If you've done a diploma, then you get lateral entry into the second year of B.E.

Of course, the entry into the college requires an entrance examination result such as CET, ComedK or the college's selection examination called DSAT. I had applied for CET and ComedK. I entered the course through my ComedK result.

The cutoffs for the course of aeronautical engineering are 60% and above in your 10+ or PUC courses. If you wish to enter through CET, you'll need to have a score of 6000 or less. If you wish to enter through ComedK, you will need to have a score of 13,000 or less. Of course, this score keeps changing every year based on the previous year's performances of the students in these entrance examinations.

Academics and Faculty

4

The college day starts at 9 AM and ends at 5 PM. This can vary based on the timetable given by the department that the student enrols in. The college encourages students to conduct mini-projects every semester in exchange for credits and marks that can affect their final score at the end of the semester. There is one assignment per subject per semester. Every semester has two compulsory internals and one back-up internals and of course, the final examination.

The quality of teaching is average given the amount of fees collected by the college. The method of teaching is very mediocre and I feel there is a lot of room for improvement.

The overall experience in college is pretty good as they have a lot of extracurricular activities and fun projects for students to participate in.

Fees and Scholarships

3.5

Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, [DSCE] Bangalore Fee Structure. Fees of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering is INR 1 lakh per year.

The course fee depends on which entrance exam you have entered through. ComedK entrance fees are 2LPA. If the student wishes to enrol through a management seat, then the fees go up to about 3LPA and a donation of about 10 Lakhs at the start of the course.

The scholarship is given to students is solely dependant on their yearly performance.

The average number of students who receive scholarships is about three to four per department per year.

Loans can be taken out and that depends on the student's financial background. The banks that do give loans easily to students are State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Vijaya Bank and a few others referred by the college.

Clubs and Associations

4

The main club for students to be a part of is The Center for the performance of arts (CPA). There are various parts of the CPA such as the music club, the theatre club, the literary club, and the art club. The existing branches of the college also have a Gym, Squash court, Tennis court, and the newest branch of the college opening on Kanakpura Road is rumoured to have a golf court as well.

There are four to five festivals in the college hosted by each of the main departments like BBA, BE, Dental and Physiotherapy branches. All these festivals include tech, sports, cultural and so on.

College life in Dayananda Sagar is very much attractive as students have an option to thrive in these cultural activities with support from the college if they are unable to thrive as much in academics.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : There were no particular eligibility criteria for my course. Students can be from any of the streams in class 12/PUC. Admission procedure was straight forward, write an entrance exam, i.e., KCET or COMEDK, submit fees, and join college. The cutoffs change every year, so it is difficult to tell what the cut off is going to be.
