The university does provide internships in all fields of journalism and however, the majority tend to get one for themselves. Students have often been placed in big media houses while some venture into start ups or local printing houses to get an idea of how things work. Apart from these, there are also internship opportunities on campus with some providing a stipend too. There is no alumini network as of now owing to the fact that no batch has graduated till date.
There are a total of nine hostels spread across campus, equally distributed between boys and girls. Financial details for the same are easily accessible online. While apartments do exist outside campus, people often live in the housing provided. The mess is vegetarian, although provides a wide range of choices. The costs for the mess are included in your fee bill. There's also a food court inside the campus with several well acclaimed joints such as Subway, Dominos, Moti Mahal, etc. The infrastructure is up to the mark and often exceeds expectations. The entire campus is WiFi equiped.
The admissions process is divided into three rounds. Round one deals with the submission of your application form that includes your personal information, grades, statement of purpose, and extra/co curricular activities. The same will be followed by a telephonic interview. If eligible for round two, one is required to take the JSAT (Jindal Scholastic Aptitude Test) if they haven't taken the ACT, SAT, or LSAT already. Moving on, round three deals with the university providing you with a provisional offer depending on your class XII board marks.
Classes are spread throughout the week starting from 8am and sometimes will go on till 10pm. Normally, there are usually two to three classes per day unless rescheduled. Throughout a semester, assignments and projects are well distributed and are often according to the course manual given at the very beginning. There is an emphasis on group work, owing to the fact that our profession demands it. Teachers often use an array of teaching methods ranging from field trips, chalk board or with the help of multimedia. The existence of a Radio and TV studio allows us to acclimatize with the equipment during our classes and in our free time.
Financial details are easily available at the school's website. In terms of scholarships, they are awarded on Merit Cum Means every year. The eligibility criteria includes annual family income, XII board score, JSAT or standardized examination results and faculty interview score. There's also a weightage given to curricular and non-curricular achievements.
There are a number of clubs and societies across all fields present in the campus. Induction to some are open to all or based on merit through auditions. There's a booming sports life in the campus, as people are often seen playing throughout the day. There are two main fests celebrated by the university i.e. Magnus (annual sports fest) and Biswamil (annual cultural fest).
