Academics & Faculty

For some branches it is really free schedule for others it is hell like for EEE It starts from 8 in the morning and we'll go till 6-8pm in the evening usually till 5 pm. Quality is just normal with first two years u have more ad-hoc to teach u than faculty. Also really hectic schedule and not very innovative teaching in some subjects. Outside subjects, the faculties are very supportive and encouraging for projects or other ideas but time is not there that's all. The college experience is fantastic as there are a lot of non-academic activities happening on the campus.

The course fees for B.Tech at National Institute of Technology Calicut [NITC] is around 1.2-1.4 lacs. There are a lot of scholarships available for the OBC SC/ST and economically backward people and other government scholarships and private scholarships are also available. Around 40% of people get scholarships. Loans might be needed for some people. And yes they are readily available in fact during admissions they will approach u for this option. Also, the institute provides help in all these situations.

There is a selection from the campus. Cs branch has the highest number of recruiters and also other non-Cs branches like Ece and EEE are also at par with CS. Many companies like JP Morgan delloite Goldman Sach ABB Electric Microsoft Cisco Oracle Reliance comes for placement. The alumni network is pretty strong and is very helpful in case of a referral for an internship. The admission process of NIT, Calicut like other national institutes in India are based on the ranks obtained through JEE Mains. Being one of the top NITs in the country, the closing ranks of the core courses such as Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science engineering are on the higher side. Students who\'ve completed their matriculation abroad can also apply through the DASA scheme where 10% of the total seats in each branch are allocated to DASA applicants.
