Ashhar Damda's Review on St. Joseph Engineering College - SJEC

I have not done any internship during my course at St Joseph Engineering College, but there are students who do an internship during the 6th-semester project work.

Many IT companies like TCS, Accenture, Wipro, Infosys, etc come for the campus placements and hire a huge amount of students every year from St Joseph Engineering College. The average salary these companies provide for the selected candidates is around 3 lac to 4 lac per annum.

St Joseph Engineering College has a great Alumni network. Every year there will be Alumni meet at the college where more than 500 Alumni comes for the meet.

St Joseph Engineering College has got huge infrastructure. The departments are spread over a few acres of land. It is always cool inside the campus as there are trees and plants across the campus.

The hostel and canteen are inside the campus itself. There are hostels separate for boys and girls. I was staying in the hostel, but as I heard from my friends from the hostel that the food is good at the hostel. They provide non-veg too on a couple of days. The hostel day at St Joseph Engineering College is celebrated once a year. The average cost of hostel per year is 25000 rupees per year including 3-time meal.

There is a total of 3 canteens in the campus of St Joseph Engineering College. One canteen serves only snacks, tea, coffee, and cold drinks. There are two other canteens which provide veg and non-veg food separately. The cost of food for one time comes around 50-60 rupees. The food at all these canteens is of good quality and decent taste.

The classes at St Joseph Engineering College are very spacious and well ventilated. For MCA there are 4 labs which are well equipped. 

St Joseph Engineering College has a huge library and there are enough books for all the students. 

Wi-Fi signal is available throughout the campus, but the student has to pay 100 rupees/year.

There is a student square, where students relax during their free time.

The eligibility criteria for Master Of Computer Application at St Joseph Engineering College, Mangalore is that the candidate must at least have 60% in the Bachelors degree, the candidate must be from the background of Computers or IT ie., BCA, BSC (Computer Science) or BCOM (Computer Science), candidate should write the competitive entrance exams like CMAT, KMAT, etc. I got admission through KMAT that is the management seat. The candidate who wants to get admission through KMAT must have ranked below 20000.

As college is the second home for all the students around the globe, St Joseph Engineering College made me feel like home. The faculty of Master of Computer Application at St Joseph Engineering College are very friendly and guide you well during the course. Each lecturer is well versed at the subject he teaches. 

The classes starts at 9 AM and ends at 5 PM from Monday to Friday. On Saturday the classes end at 1 PM. The faculty are very strict about the timmings and strict action will be taken for the late arrivals. 

The assignments are given every week per subject and there are 3 projects in MCA during the course of 3 years.

As I said the college made me feel like home and the faculties were my guides as well as friends

St Joseph Engineering College, [SJEC] Mangalore Fee Structure. The fee for my course is Rs 1,00,000 per year. Students who get admission through scholarship quota have to pay a fee of around 60-70 thousand rupees per year. There is a separate quota for Catholic and the fee is less for that quota. 

Students can also take an educational loan from a bank and pay the fees yearly.

St Joseph Engineering College has lots of clubs and societies for the students. Each department has a minimum of 2 clubs, where students of other departments are also invited to join. Apart from the clubs and societies, St Joseph Engineering College also conducts fests for each department.

The sports day is conducted every year and even students who are not interested in sports are encouraged to take part in.

The Annual Day is the best day at the St Joseph Engineering College.

I had a great time of my life at St Joseph Engineering College. Even though there were ups and downs during my 3 years course MCA, St Joseph Engineering College always made me forget those downs.
