Placements and Internships

3

Internships are given to students in the 6th semester of the 8-semester course. The stipend is given in accordance with the interview. The average salary for basic trades is INR 4lakh and INR 7 lakh for computer and electronics related trades. The highest package is around 13 lakh and goes to CS, IT and ECE students. The company that hires you from the campus are very reputed and well established only. The alumni network is very huge and conducts various interactive events for better guidance of students.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4

There are ten boys hostels and 3 girls hostels. Despite being very old they are well maintained and clean and have enough spacing with WLAN in each hostel. First-year students are given a 3 student room and other year students can choose from single seated and two seated rooms. Masters and doctoral scholars are given single seated rooms. The hostel fee is in between INR 1500 to 3500 for the semester. Taking a PG is not advised because it is not at all convenient as compares to hostels. The food in the mess cannot be said to be the best but it is good enough for you to spend your years of study. The average monthly expenses for the mess are around INR 2500. The infrastructure of college is very nice. Every facility is available wherever required. The map and buildings of the institute are well planned and well developed. The library has a huge amount of authors and papers and is open 24×7.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

The eligibility criteria are to score minimum marks out of 360 in the entrance test. And the entrance test is very well known by non-medical students i.e, JEE-MAINS. Only mains examination is taken into account for admission and not the advance examination. Admission is given purely on merit on the marks scored in the discussed examination. Talking about typical cutoffs, if you have applied in general category you should score a minimum of 170 marks to get admission in the general stream and 200 for computer-related streams. If you have applied in OBC category then 150 and 175 respectively and in SC/ST category it is 110 to 140. The above cutoffs are calculated as average and for least problems, you should score more than this given critirion.

Academics and Faculty

4

The daily routine for all trades is from morning 8:30 to evening 4:30 having one or more breaks and for 5 days a week i.e, Monday to Friday. The classes can extend to 6:30 pm for mechanical students. Projects and assignments are given regularly but do not put the burden on the students. Exams are taken thrice a semester. Two 15 marks exams in mid of the semesters and 50 marks exam at the end of each semester with 10 marks for attendance and 10 marks of teacher assessment making a total of 100. The quality of teaching is very good and there are plenty of very senior and experienced professors. The overall experience is very good to study wise and academics wise. A lot of fests and events are organised to inculcate the students in their interest related activities and to help them find their hidden potentials.

Fees and Scholarships

3.5

Initially, every general candidate has to give 45000 INR for seat acceptance and then the given fee is adjusted for the first-semester fee which averagely fees all branches is same and is INR 70000 approx. for general candidate and INR 35000 approx. for OBC candidate and 12000 approx. for SC/ST candidates and those having an annual income less than INR 1 lakh. The scholarship is not allowed by the campus itself but can be taken from outer sources. Regarding loans, many students are pursuing loans which can be availed very easily from any bank and especially the SBI bank situated in NIT Campus itself.

Clubs and Associations

4

There are a no. of clubs and societies in the campus to provide every student with a chance to discover their field of interest. There are dancing clubs like such, mad, NBC. There are activity clubs like sac and Anamika; educational societies like Shiksha and rooh. There is no lack of main festivals indeed. The talent show, Altius, utkarsh, techspardha, confluence, convocation, citrus and shikshangan are the various events that are held time to time for students to not get lost in the studies only. In general, the college life is going to be very great and most remembered time of your life.
