Many cores and IT companies do come for placements. On campus placements for companies like Google and Microsoft are quite rare. The highest package last year was 32 lpa
Hostels start from 1 lakh and go to 3.5 lpa With free Wi-Fi. The mess costs 50k extra. You can find better accommodation outside the campus but it does have limited options. The classrooms, labs and a library is top notch.
To get into SRM for B.Tech, you have to give the SRMJEEE. Eligibility to give the test is to have more than 60% marks in PCM. An enrollment process is done at the campus if your choice where you can have your pick of steam. For CSE, the typical cut off is at a rank of 10000 for a merit admission.
Classes start at 8 am and end at 5 pm but not every day. There are some days where you have half the day off. Saturdays and Sundays are off. The teachers are capable and understanding. Other than a few who will be an amount for the same of it.
There are too many options for clubs and societies. The committees for the events alone are extensive and each department has it's own association. College life is great.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The eligibility criteria is you should score a rank below 20,000 in the SRMJEE exam. The cutoff for my course is rank below 10,000 in SRMJEE.
Entrance Exams & Admissions : SRM Institute of Science and Technology is deemed to be a University which, has its own entrance exam - SRMJEEE, a computer-based examination for 125 marks in 2 hours and 30 minutes testing your physics, chemistry, math, English, and aptitude ( will have to appear for biology is your course requires) one who is desiring to join SRM should take up this exam and clear it, the rank obtained will decide your preference. Also, on cracking JEE Mains, you will be eligible for admissions in SRM. There are various campuses, and the eligibility criteria differ for each. In the Chennai campus for the B.tech course, a minimum of 50% aggregate marks is required in PCM subjects which also should be your core subjects. On fulfilling these criteria, you can secure your place in this college.
