Placements and Internships

3.5

I have had the privilege of attending an internship in Keltron,Calicut. Indian IT giants like Infosys and Wipro hires from the institution with a starting package of 3 lakhs per annum in the Programming department. An alumni association is active in the college for a wide network of contacts in the competitive job hunting.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

2.5

A small hostel but decently maintained. The hostel is a two-storeyed building with 10 rooms which can accommodate 4 people each. The hostel fees vary with a maximum being Rs.3700. There are private hostels with the same facilities and nearly the same fees. The food quality is worth the money and costs Rs.85 a day and the food is satisfactory. A main flaw of the college is the unavailability of many basic infrastructural facilities specifically unavailability of a gym which is the main requirement of the students. Open Wi-Fi connectivity is not available for the students, in fact, the institution is a mobile phone free campus which poses an inconvenience. The necessary labs are not worth noting but decently maintained.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

Out of the three types of seats - Merit, Management, NRI; The first two can be applied and admitted to by rank of the KEAM(Entrance Exam) and the NRI seats can be applied by anyone but the expenditure increases for the latter. The availability of the seats for the desired course varies according to the number of applicants but a rank as low as 30000 can ensure a Computer Science and Engineering seat(the most in demand)

Academics and Faculty

4

The classes start at 9:00 am and ends at 4:00 pm. The internal marks required to attend semester exams are recorded by continuous evaluation of monthly assignments and two internal exams. The quality of teaching is remarkable unlike seen in many other colleges and the institution holds many ranks in University results. The institution provides an atmosphere that promotes self learning.

Fees and Scholarships

4

Fees for Merit students is 35000 per year for Management students is 65000 per year for NRI students is 100000 per year Scholarships and fees exemption are available for students with reservation and other government grants with no particular scholarship from the institution as it is a Government controlled Self Financing Institution. Loans can be taken as necessary for the students from banks preferably from Government banks

Clubs and Associations

4

Many associations for students activity are active in the college like Arts Club, COMPASS(Association for the Computer Students) and Senate for student authority supervised by the faculties. Annually Arts Fest, Sports and Tech Fest and Festivals like Christmas, Onam and Holidays are celebrated. Generally speaking the life in the college is remarkable as students are allowed a 'safe' amount of freedom unlike suffocating atmosphere in other institutions.
