Placements and Internships
- Orissa Engineering College is open to letting its students pursue any number of associated courses, internships, and opportunities towards their selection.
- ITES, Manufacturing, Automobile and its OEMs, Real Estate, Construction, Consultancy Services, Analytics, Engineering Services, Retail are some major sectors where companies come to recruit students during campus selections, pooled recruitment drives, and other selection procedures.
- Alumni network is really very extensive and has been helping rigorously in placing the students.
- Training and Placement department of OEC has been very active throughout its history.
- Companies ranging from Microsoft, SKF Bearings, Yamaha Motors, Bosch, TVS Motors, AMW group, Ashok Leyland, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, CSC, L&T, Vedanta group, IMFA, Essar Group, and many such prestigious organizations have been visiting the campus for recruitment purposes.
- Average package figures have tentatively ranged in the zone of 2.8 LPA to 3.5 LPA throughout.
- Average batch placement always hovers around 90-95% mark.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- Infrastructure and ambience had remained the only moot points of an Orissa Engineering College otherwise very conducive environment. But it has all changed in these past 2 years or so.
- Late Mr. S.P. Pattnaik (erstwhile Director SWTP, OEC), Ms. Suprita Pattnaik, Ms. Sonia Pattnaik and Dr. T.C. Panda (Principal and Dean) have worked extensively to make OEC stand at a position at what it is today.
- There are almost 30 buses plying from Bhubaneswar city, Cuttack city and Korda/Jatani contracted by the college (courtesy: Mr. Jaga and Mr. Santosh), which makes the otherwise very arduous 20+ km to the college a breeze.
- The college has got its own Wi-Fi connection working round the clock.
- Boys hostel facilities are limited to in campus accommodation for the first year only.
- OEC has got many Girls hostel facilities across the entire Bhubaneswar city.
Academics and Faculty
- Orissa Engineering College has been the virtual yardstick of quality and method of teaching education in Odisha since its inception.
- Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering are the flagship departments of OEC, whereas other departments like Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and IT too are on the equal footing.
- The departments of Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering have been graded as A++ or similar by various reporters and accreditation bodies.
- Academics definitely are at par with what the industry has to ask for.
- OEC could improve vastly if it involves a bit more of practical exposure.
- Lack of the practical orientation of B.Tech studies have always been the sore point of BPUT, and thus OEC shares the same sufferings.
- Classroom teaching could be made even more interesting if virtual teaching aids were to be used by the faculty.
- OEC boasts of a standing army of vastly qualified personnel and faculty.
- Professors, lecturers, and other teaching staffs have been equally very curious and sought to help the students.
Fees and Scholarships
- Orissa Engineering College is open to help any student apply for its own scholarship scheme if he/she meets certain criteria.
- Financial Aid options are open to every such facility thus available in the market.
- The entire college course fees can range in at around 4.5 lakhs for the 4 years.

- Orissa Engineering College has been fondly remembered as the Only Entertainment College by its alumni network.
- Needless to say, one can pursue every bit of his/her interests at Orissa Engineering College.
- Sporting events like Cricket, Badminton, Table-Tennis and Athletics are given a huge impetus.

Orissa engineering college is well known for its core branches, especially MECHANICAL. As the Jee mains' rank completely depend upon the 12th board exam, only Jee marks can't lead you to get admitted in the outstanding college for mech. One must be under 3 lakh rank in Jee to get admission in this college. You may also get this college by securing a rank under 2000 in OJEE.

Academics & Faculty : Classes go on from 10:00 A.M to 4:30 P.M. Each class is of 45 minutes. Assignments are given after completing each chapter in each subject. Exams are conducted by our BPUT university every 6 months. There are two projects given - one is a minor project and the other is a major project and we are completing our major project on All Terrain Vehicle(ATV). Teachers are well qualified and the quality of education is good. Overall my college is good and preferable.
