Deepanshu Kumar's Review on Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, [NIT] Jalandhar

I was offered an internship from toppr.com which was having a stipend of Rs18000(INR) P.A. Internship was for 30days. Amazon, Adobe, LnT, Directi, Microsoft India, Maruti, are some of the top recruiters on our campus. This year Amazon has hired 11 students on a decent package of 27 lakhs(INR) P.A. Adobe has given 39.3 lakhs(INR) to 5 students and many companies have offered a good amount to many students. The average package differs for different branches. Computer science has an average package of 11-12lakhs.Overall package for all the branches is almost 6.5lakhs. The college has a good alumni network. Alumni meet is organized every year on the campus. Alumni of our college are every part of the world. For instance, our college racing team have been to the USA for a competition, and their accommodation was provided by one of our alumni.

There are 7 hostels and one mega hostel for boys. Mega hostels have 3 blocks and they are well built and 2 hostel and 1 mega hostel for girls. Every hostel has it own mess. Every hostel has badminton courts, volleyball court, table tennis tables, washing machines etc. Quality of food is average. Mess fee per semester is Rs 21000, and per meal, cost varies according to the menu. I think our classrooms are one the best classrooms in India. WiFi facility is available in every hostel.

To get admission in any of the NITs, one will have to appear for JEE MAIN and should have 75% aggregate or should be in top 20 percentile in class 12 board. After the declaration of result of JEE MAIN, JOSSA organizes a counseling for admission in different NITs, IIITs, and other GFTIs. All those students who have appeared for jee mains can apply for the counseling. The process of counseling has almost 6-7 rounds, and according to ranks, seats are allowed in different colleges. For different branches, the cutoffs ranks are different. It changes every year according to the demand of branch. If seats remain vacant, then special rounds of counseling are also conducted by CSAB.

We have a very busy schedule. Classes start at 8.30 am in the morning and up to 5.30 pm in the evening. There is a lunch break of 1 hour from 12.30 to 1.30. Exams are conducted on a regular interval of 40-45days.Assignments are provided after completion of chapters. Our college lacks in project.projects are done by only final year students. Every classroom is equipped with projectors, blackboard. Almost all the classes have air conditioning. I really love my college. The cultural fests, technical fests are really interesting.

Course fee depends upon the category and income of the student. Students belonging to SC/ST or having an annual income of fewer than 1 lakhs(INR) are required to pay only mess fee and maintenance charge (Rs 21000+9800) per semester. Students whose annual income is between 1-5 lakhs(INR) have to pay 1/3 of the academic fee. Students having an annual income of more than 5lakhs have to pay full fee. Scholarships are offered by the different students by their corresponding state government. Many companies also provide scholarships according to their criteria.Samsung provides a scholarship to the students who have completed their 10th from Navodaya Vidyalaya. Loans are easily available. College campus has two banks SBI and Canara bank which helps students for the loan.
