I did a summer internship at IIT Madras and got a stipend of INR 6,000 per month. The alumni network is strong.
The college has two hostels. One for boys and one for girls. Cost of private hostels or rent for flats is around INR 2-4k per month. The food option within the campus is limited and the cost per meal is INR 30 per meal. The infrastructure is good and the labs are well maintained.
During the year of my admission, the process was based on a cumulative ranking which was generated on the basis of individual JEE scores and board percentile, both of these were given 50% weightage and the rank was used as the as the basis for admission. Currently, this pattern has been modified, a large number of seats are a part of the Maharashtra state quote and hence the MHT CET score is used as a basis for admission into the program. Polytechnic students are provided direct admission on the basis of there overall percentage in polytechnic.
The daily routine is pretty manageable, and not very exhaustive. During the third and final year, Saturdays aren't working, so college is only for 5 days per week. Assignments are distributed equally throughout the semester and hence are manageable, and every semester a project has to be carried out called mini-project, which is a great learning experience and also a chance to develop various technical skills over the course of our education. Teaching methods are engaging, the quality of teaching varies subjectwise, but overall lectures are conducted in a regular manner and the faculty members are helpful and encouraging, a healthy culture for learning is promoted, any doubts, suggestions, feedback from the students is always welcome. The overall college experience is very good.
The fee for the general open category is 1 Lakh 21 Thousand per year. Fee waiver on the basis of family income is offered.
