Danish Ahmad's Review on Aligarh Muslim University, [AMU] Aligarh

In this college you will get an opportunity to get placed but the package is not so good. There is no opportunity for an internship but AMU does organize the workshop.

The eligibility criteria is very simple and easy. Anyone who has passed class 12th is eligible to graduate in economics from Aligarh Muslim University. The cutoff marks for B.A Hons. in economics, for external students i.e.  for those students who have not passed 12th form AMU is at least 50 marks out of 100 that means you have to get 50% marks. I have chosen B.A Hons.

Classes start early in the morning by 8 am. You will get some project that has to be completed on time and even you have to maintain 75% attendance. Exams and assignments are taken on time. our 1st sem start in the first week of May and ends in the first week of December. There will be one mid term exam of 40 marks and end sem exam of 60 marks. The quality of teaching is good as the department have good teachers and sometimes they even use projectors to teach us. The overall experience is almost good.

If you choose to stay in a hostel then you will have to pay INR 1100 and the fee for the masters in economics is around INR 9000 and for graduation, it is even less than INR 7000. They don't provide the scholarship.

Elections are held every year and the union is very strong and of kind nature. One main festival is celebrated in AMU i.e. founder of AMU, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan on 18th September.
