Mridul Jain's Review on Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, Delhi University, New Delhi

SSCBS has built its reputation on its practical approach to teaching theory grounded in real-world application. The college  has a stellar placement record, and is among the top 3 colleges in Delhi University in terms of placement. Last year 85% of the total students who sat for placements were placed and the average salary package was Rs. 6 lakhs. But the college seems to raise its bar every bar as the highest package being offered this time around is Rs. 15 Lakhs by MNC-Bloomberg. Some of other the well-known companies recruiting at SSCBS are McKinsey & Co., Bain and Company,AT Kearney, UBS  CB Richard Ellis, Deloitte  Nokia Siemens Networks, KPMG  Capital IQ, Google etc.  

The quality of classrooms in the college is satisfactory. It has a couple of air conditioned computer labs and a library which is enough given the fact that only 300 odd students are able to get into the college thanks to the rigorous admission process. The Wi-Fi facility covers the entire campus but the general infrastructure of the college is disappointing. Currently, it operates in a government school building taken on lease.

However the college is expected to have its own campus by 2017. The construction of the new building has already started in Rohini, New Delhi and upon completion it is expected to emerge as one of the most well-equipped college campuses in the DU circuit. The new building will be fully air-conditioned and the 7-acre campus shall boast of a 400-capacity auditorium, multipurpose indoor games facility, a gym, a yoga centre, underground parking, 500-capacity amphitheatre, 6 computer labs along with hostel facility.

Quite clearly, SSCBS is all set to touch a new high!! 

If there's one college in the Delhi University circuit that believes in the mantra, Make every class count, its definitely SSCBS. The 2nd best undergraduate management college in Asia, as it is often called, can be characterized by regular lectures, case studies, projects, guest lectures, presentations and assignments. The college offers BBS and BFIA courses, admissions to which take place through the BMS CET and apart from these core-management courses, the college also offers B.Sc. in Computer Science.

Learning is made easy as the college has some of the most experienced and qualified faculty in the University of Delhi. The rigorous syllabus combined with 6-7 lectures a day is enough to give an insight into the college's flinty Academic calendar. 

SSCBS is a Government college which means that you get to study a 3-year professional management course in less than INR 35,000. The college also provides scholarships to students belonging to lower income groups. 

SSCBS is also characterized by its aggressive society culture. The college has around 25 societies which are also considered to be among the finest in Delhi University. Theses societies provide opportunities in abundance to pursue and further your interests in a variety of fields or hobbies, be it music, dance, theatre, writing, sports, debating, quizzing, photography, social work among many others.

Most of the societies organize their annual trademark fests which receive participants from all over DU and even IIMs, IITs, Delhi School of Economics, St Xaviers etc. These societies also continue to win various accolades at national level competitions.
