I did an NGO internship in the year 2014 with UDAY FOUNDATION. You can relate them to their work in Rahat operation which helped during floods in Uttrakhand a few years back. It was a non-paying internship and my work was dynamic and rotational which involved handling administration one day to teach kids the other. During campus recruitments, i did get selected but decided otherwise as the package was similar to all the du colleges except srcc where you get companies with higher packages. The key benefit of our placement cell was procuring recruitment for CA article students which is only provided by Srcc and Shaheed Bhagat Singh College. The range of companies was vast but since it was a commerce based college no IT companies came for recruitment
Sadly there is no hostel in our Shaheed Bhagat Singh College. The food available at the canteen could be given a 5/10 rating and Wi-Fi facility was only available for the 1st year and the remaining years the Wi-fi access remained closed. Libraries and stadium classes were good. Other classes and the dining hall needs improvement. An auditorium and other activity rooms are required
Eligibility criteria for Shaheed Bhagat Singh College was based on the result of Class 12th board exams. The higher you score the better the college you get. Top 4 subjects was included for this criteria with English as a compulsory subject. The typical cutoff at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College ranges from 94.5 to 95.5% of your board exams. There was no entrance test as such and I was a part of Guinea pig experiment of FYUP which was scrapped only after a year thereby not going through the batch.
Shaheed Bhagat Singh College had classes in 2 segements the morning and evening. The faculty and classes of morning classes were better since there was a gap in cutoff of morning and evening students. I was a morning student and timings were from 8.30-2. The evening college had timings from 3-6(not certain about this). The teaching and quality method was average and it is advisable for students not to rely on teachers. My overall experience was good since it's not only about academics but other co-curricular activities too. Although it would have been better if certain more facilities were availed like Auditorium swimming pools etc
The average fee for a year is very basic ranging from 5000 to 10000 per annum which decreases yearly. The fee was basic and minimal and one can afford to pay the basic fees.
The Society which was the core of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College was the Commerce association which held it fest by the name of Uddayam. Other clubs were overshadowed and did not influence students much. Shaheed Bhagat Singh College fest was a waste of time and college life, in general, was pretty okay but if I had a chance to make other friends instead of current ones, i would gladly do so
