- For basic science streams, Students prefer higher study over joining any company .
- The Xaverian family is very strong which is mainly due to its notable alumni and glorious history.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- Hostel facilities are good as far as I have heard and PG options are also available within a comfortable radius outside the college.
- Classrooms are neat and clean at St Xavier's College, Kolkata.
- Wi-Fi facility is available. Libraries, laboratories and canteen facilities are very good.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
- Merit list is prepared based on Marks Scored in Standard 12th.
- The cutoff for any stream is generally very high at St Xavier's College, Kolkata.
- Cut-off varies from year to year based on the marks obtained by the applicants.
Academics and Faculty
- Quality, quantity and routine of teaching are excellent at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata across all departments. Speaking of the Microbiology department, the way of teaching is fantastic.
- The faculty members are very helpful and there is no need for going to coaching classes if one takes the class seriously and sincerely.
- Also, departmental events, seminars and special project work, for example, the undergraduate paper publication in the Indian Science Congress, are all very enriching and makes the study more interactive and enjoyable.
Fees and Scholarships
- For B.Sc. Microbiology, 3 years course at St Xavier's College, Kolkata costs around INR 2.94 lakhs.
- Scholarship from the college is unknown to me, but a lot of students apply and get the INSPIRE scholarship and draw stipend as per its norms.
- There may be other scholarships that the student can apply for.
- The prestigious KVPY scholarship is also Availed by some students at St Xavier's College, Kolkata.

- A lot of clubs, societies and groups are present with a wide range of extra-curricular activities.
- Apart from the departmental events and events of the various societies, there are often some special attraction events. Xavotsav is the famous and hugely attended annual cultural fest of the college.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The entrance exam is a written paper that has to be submitted by the applicants within a stipulated time. The paper is on general knowledge, English, common mass media knowledge. On qualifying in this, the selected candidates go through the second phase of personal interviews and are then given the final results on the basis of the aggregation of both these marks for the selected students.

Academics & Faculty : The college has three shifts. It has regular classes and the college is always concerned about the academica of the student.
Academics & Faculty : I travel a 2 hour journey to reach college by 10 a.m. The classes end at 4 a.m.We have two semesters in a year.We need to complete the honours practical assignments, and also the ancillary subject(physics and chemistry) practical assignments.We have recently done a training project on plant tissue culture. Quality of teaching is very good.The teachers are very interactive with the students.A lot of importance is given on the attendance percentage.we have one mid semester exam between two semesters which includes continuous internal assesment.A Foundation course period is there for self development.There is also language subject along with other subjects. The college also gives a lot of importance to extra-curricular activities and sports.There is also a NSS and NCC cell.Participation in social activities is compulsory for all. We all enjoy our college days.
