Placements and Internships
- Internships mostly have to be done with your personal contacts but you can ask for assistance from the University if required.
- I have done unpaid internships in North Eastern Electric Power Corporation and Diesel loco shed.
- Mostly IT companies like Infosys, TCS, CTS and Wipro recruit in bulk each year for the role of a system engineer.
- The average salary package is about 3.5 lakhs and the highest package goes up to 14 lakhs and about 60% of the students get placed each year at SRM University.
- There are certain Alumni networks to keep us connected.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- There are about 10 hostels for girls at SRM University, and yearly hostel fees including mess fees for non-AC hostel is 90,000.
- The options available outside college are better than the hostels.
- A number of apartments are there right outside the University.
- They are safe and comfortable.
- The food in the college canteen is average as per the price.
- In 100 rupees you can expect to have an average meal.
- Classrooms are good, they are spacious and have good benches, no AC in most classrooms though, labs are air-conditioned
Entrance Exams and Admissions
- The eligibility criteria for b.tech is 70% in PCM in the 12th boards.
- The admission procedure for SRM University is to appear for the SRMJEEE Test, the closing rank is usually around 60,000 but most on demand courses are closed at a much lower rank.
- The typical closing rank for EEE is about 40,000.
Academics and Faculty
- Daily routine varies for each department at SRM University.
- The routine is manageable for all since there are a number of free periods in between classes.
- There are 4 exams held every semester and mandatory projects have to be done in the 5th and 7th semester, assignments are given at the end of the semester.
- Most teachers are well qualified at SRM University
Fees and Scholarships
- The course fee per year is 1.75 lakhs at SRM University.
- Scholarship options are available for students with extraordinary achievements in sports or students facing financial issues in their family.
- About 5% of the students get scholarships.
- Loans may be needed by some students to meet the needs of the college fees and hostel fees.
- Education loans can easily be availed from any college but the dominant bank in Chennai is City Union Bank.
Clubs and Associations
- A number of clubs are available at SRM University to help you build your talents and show them to the world.
- From music club, dance club, fashion club, the clubs provide an amazing platform for students.
- Some departments have their associations that are responsible for conducting the events.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : 65% aggregate marks in PCB 12th. The admission procedure is very simple and easy like you have to give the SRMJEE exam and get above cutoff marks. Contact the college admission office and come for counselling. Last year the cutoff was over 65%

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The eligibility for engineering admission in SRM Institute of science and technology is done by SRM JEE entrance exams. After the entrance, they will announce the rank list, if you are interested in any course and if you can make a guess that they will select with the present rank you can go for the counseling process. During counseling, they will ask to pay around Rs.20000 for registration and they will ask to pay minimum fee amount around INR 1,60,000. The chance that you will get the course that you want is totally dynamic, it depends on the rank you got and no. of people before you. Typically cut off for ECE(Electronics and communication engineering) is 25,000 but after that course will be there but the fee will be increased.
Entrance Exams & Admissions : The eligibity criteria is getting 60 percent in board exams and good marks in SRMJEE.The entrance exam which I took is SRMJEE. There is no such Typical cutoff but people who score above 50 percent may get the course they wish.
