Gaurav Raj Anand's Review on BIT Mesra - Patna Extension Center

Rarely any company visits to provide internships. One has to secure internship on their own. The college is known to have some tie ups with some corporate houses to provide internships to those who can't get it on their own or prefer those companies. Around 20 companies visit the campus each year. Placements were very good some years ago. The packages and the qaulity companies have reduced since then. No direct international placemnets in the college has been heard of. Almost all of eligible students from CSE,IT,ECE and EEE get placed. Most of them are recruited by so called mass recruiting companies. Avg. Package each year is Rs 3.5 lakhs. Approx six batches have graduated since the college started in 2006. There is an alumni network operating but is rather ineffective.

Classrooms- Good

Labs- Average (They need to be more equipped)

Library- Good (Lacks books in good number, generally has 10 copies of each book, other than book bank)

Dining Hall- Good (Get used to mess food, or order paid menu)

Wi-Fi- Good (Speed is not that high, LAN is also available)

Transport facilities are provided by the college through its two buses which ply on the pre determined route 3-4 times a day.

Public Transportation is generally on Auto-Rickshaws, which are usually shared(very low cost) but can be reserved (high cost)

Guest House Facility, Gym, Canteen, Photocopy and Stationery stores are available.

No other major facilities as of such.

The academics here is like any other engineering college in India. The classes are regular, and quizzes are generally held once before midsems and one before endsems. Some teachers prefer handing out assignments in lieu of tests. The methodology of teaching is a normal classroom one, with a blackboard and chalks serving as only equipment. The Quality of teaching is average. One may have to study things on own. Professors are generally accessible, you can personally meet them in their respective chambers.

College fees are rather high for the facilities it provides. It costs around Rs 2 lacs per year along with lodging and fooding on campus. Without availing resedential facilities, one saves around Rs 56000 which is again not so major chunk of the fee.The conditions for recieving scholarship are rather tough. Rarely anyone gets it, though a provision exists to provide one so with it. It has to do with your JEE Mains rank and your performance afterwards. Bank Loans are one option which is rather easily available. SBI and PNB offer loans during admissions on campus. Other banks also provide bank loans.

Clubs are in plenty but very few of them actually work. Some of them are BIT Patna Toastmasters Club, IEEE Chapter, ACM Chapter, SAE Chapter.

The college is equipped with basket ball courts, tennis courts, volleyball courts and a central ground which serves as a venue for all major sporting events.

BIT Soccer League and Inter- Branch Atheletic Meet are few of major tournaments.
