Placements and Internships

4.5

Summer internship is a matter of pure luck, conducted at a stage when most people are not even sure about what vertical they want to pursue as a career path. Eventually most people align themselves according to the field they intern in and the final placements are more encouraging and less uncertain, since a major chunk of students end up getting PPOs and most people become sure of what they want to get into.

Academics and Faculty

3.5

Quality of teaching is not as good as might be expected given the amount of fees we are paying. Subjects are good . Some of the proffessors are good but most of them are dissatisfactory as far as teaching skills are concerned. Examination and assignments continue to follow the same substandard cliched methodologies that kill the motivation to actually learn something.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode takes CAT scores as qualification criteria. It first declares an initial shortlist which includes everyone who has scored above a certain percentile in CAT. The initial shortlist candidates are required to fill in their academic details and discipline. IIM Kozhikode then declares another shortlist based on these criteria plus CAT score with different weights to components. The shortlisted students are required to go through written aptitude test followed by group discussion and interview. Each of these has different weights in final selection along with CAT score.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Eligibility criteria for IIM is a bachelor's degree in any discipline, although around 80-85% of the students who actually made it in here are engineers, from primarily IITs, NITs, etc My batch(2016-18) also has CAs, Doctors, commerce graduates and other students from other backgrounds as well. Entrance Exam is for getting into IIM is the CAT exam. It takes place during October and November every year. Cutoffs in IIM are typically to score 98 percentile and above in CAT and then wait for an interview call from IIM. But weightage is given to attributes to like work experience, academic diversity, gender diversity etc. Huge weightage is attributed to the interview process(around 40-60%, on a dynamic basis every year ).

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The eligibility criteria were to have a degree from a recognised college with a minimum of 50% in both 10th and 12th. To get into the institute one has to crack an exam called common admission test. One has to score in the range of 98 and above percentile to get an interview call. Once he clears the interview, he can attend the college.
