Placements and Internships

3.5

  • I am a first-year student at the moment, so I do not know much about the placements at Nirma University, but I have heard from seniors that pretty decent placement offers happen here.
  • Although I do receive many e-mails for internships, I haven't been into any internship yet.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4

  • The infrastructure is very good. The labs are nice but there are no ACs in our classrooms and Ahmedabad gets quite hot in summers.
  • There is no hostel for undergraduates although there are a lot of PGs nearby the campus. I'm a local student, so I don't know in much detail about the PG facilities and costs.
  • There are 4 canteens+2 messes inside the Nirma campus and the food is bang for the buck.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • My overall percentile after The boards + JEE(mains)[40%+60% weightage respectively] was around 97 which is enough to get into any field at Nirma except Computer Engineering.
  • I chose EC (electronics and communications) because I like dealing with electronics and is a combination of both hardware and software knowledge.
  • The cut-offs for EC are relatively low, about 90 percentile or less, as it has less value in India with respect to other countries.

Academics and Faculty

4

  • The Class timings are from either 9am-4pm or 11am-6pm or 9-6 if you're unlucky. There are 3 major exams: Class tests, Sessional exams and Semester end exams and all of these have a significant weightage to the final result we get at the end of the semester.
  • The teaching standard is good and depends on what sort of teacher you get and how much you're willing to study.

Fees and Scholarships

3.5

  • The fees per semester are around 88,000 for general category students. So that is nearly Rs. 1,75,000 per year.
  • The General category students (like me) are not offered any scholarships but other category students are offered many scholarships from different sources including the Alumni association of Nirma.

Clubs and Associations

4

  • There are several clubs in the Institute of Technology, Nirma University (ITNU). Fests happen very frequently although no attendance is given for absence due to marketing, publicity or sponsorships of any of the fests
  • The college hosts its own official fests. It hosts the biggest tech-fest (NuTech) of Gujarat and the biggest cultural fest of Gujarat as well.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : In Nirma University, JEE is the entrance exam. But now it is changed. Now students of Gujarat Board have to give GUJCET and those students outside the Nirma have to give JEE.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : To be eligible for ITNU, you have to qualify JEE MAINS with good scores. You are selected on the basis of ITNU MERIT list, which has to be really good for getting a decent branch.
