Placements and Internships

  • Students from the Presidency University go for internships at Cognizant, Google, RICE, MAHENDRA, etc. The students selected to go for job roles like HR, PR, Content Writing etc.
  • Almost 70-80% of the batch gets placed, although it is at their discretion whether they do wish to pursue their jobs since many from our department wish to take up teaching or lectureship, and go for doctoral programs.
  • Initial salaries vary from Rs. 15k to Rs. 25k depending on the job role.
  • The alumni network, spanning across the world, is quite active and helpful for the present students in their cultural and technical endeavors.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

  • Two hostels are there at Presidency University, one for boys and one for girls. Hostel fee is Rs. 3k, for shared room accommodation.
  • There are many PGs are available near the campus for Rs. 4 - 7k.
  • There are four canteens present in college, including an A/C food court.
  • Foodstuffs range from Rs. 5 to Rs. 100.
  • The classrooms are spacious and after renovation, laboratories, libraries, WiFi and all the other key infrastructures like lifts, hallways, corridors, common rooms are in their top-notch shape.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • In Presidency University for Masters degree, we had a 60-40 division of reservation of seats, 60% of the students who did their UG in Presidency itself, 40℅ for the students from other Universities.
  • For the students of Presidency, the selection was based on marks in the UG degree course, while for outsiders there was an aggregate of their marks in the UG program as well as the admission test that was held.
  • The cut off was 55% in the BA in English.
  • The examination was held on June. Admission and Classes commenced in July.

Academics and Faculty

  • Classes at Presidency University are held from 10:05 am to 5:10 pm, with variable timings. Each period is 50 min.
  • Projects and exams are usually held in the last two months of the semester. The even semester commences in January and the odd in July. Results come out within one month.
  • Assignments are interactive, and teachers provide ample support in terms of technical advice and research material.
  • The overall experience of studying is good on the campus.
  • Teachers and seniors are friendly and genial on the campus.

Fees and Scholarships

  • Presidency University is being a government institution, the course fee is very low, around Rs. 6k per semester including examination fees and subsequent costs.
  • Scholarship programs are available for the students, based on the income of the supporting parent, and caste. So not everyone is eligible.
  • Loans are not really needed.

Clubs and Associations

  • Each department at Presidency University has its own student society, based on subject related hobbies.
  • The department of English hosted Literary Society being the foremost in terms of event and program coordination.
  • There are also other hobby clubs like Painting, Football, Cricket, Chess, Debating Society, Photography, Drama, and Film, which have their own events and interactive competition.
  • The main festivals held on campus are the Fresher's Festivals, ISPAT, ICON, and the department based ones. The first two are student union based, and the arrangements attract sponsors like TOI and more, with lavish arrangements of entertainment and gourmet cuisine.
  • There are a number of club hosted festivals as well. There are drama and film club screenings, a number of celebrity talks, live performances, and seminars and conferences taking place throughout the session.
  • Life in college is fun and interactive.
