Placements and Internships

4

Summer Internship - FMS has an internship process for 1st-year students around 6 months post joining. Several companies come on campus, offering marketing, finance, consulting profiles. The process lasts about a week, with multiple companies coming each day. The process basically entails applying to a company, CV shortlist, group discussion and interview with the panel. The summer internship is for a duration of 2 months, during the summer break, usually from April to July. There is usually a stipend that the intern gets, depending on the company. Average stipend numbers can be checked on the placement page of the site. Final Job - FMS has 2 processes for final placements, one for the laterals (>18 months pre MBA work ex) and one for the freshers. Both processes last for a duration of about a week each, with several companies, across all industries offering jobs across domains. Students who have got Pre Placement offer from their internship can choose to take that up and opt out of the final process. The process remains the same with the student applying, shortlist, GD and multiple interview rounds. The average package changes from year to year and the update number along with the list of companies that attend the process can be checked on the placement page of the FMS site. FMS is one of the older institutes and has a strong alumni network. There is an alumni association of which students can become members by paying nominal fees. There are formal get -together on an annual basis and other informal events as well. Students can even join the mailing group with all the alumni

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

2.5

FMS has a very basic infrastructure. It is essentially one building with several classrooms and a small canteen. It doesn't offer hostel facility since it is part of the Delhi University. Students generally live in PGs/ rent flats in the neighborhood and a few select ones get hostel (basis rank/merit). There are no sports facilities, arenas, halls, etc as part of the campus Since FMS is on the north campus which is the heart of the Delhi university, it is very well connected with public transport. Metro connectivity is available, even rickshaws and cycle rickshaws. Parking is available for the day scholars who drive to the campus.

Academics and Faculty

3

Class Details - Classes start from 9:00 and continue up to 4:00 PM. Duration of classes is 1 hour each, wherein we have presentations, case studies and other assignments/ discussions. 1st year all courses are mandates, in the 2nd year, the student can choose his/her electives basis what he/she wants to major in. Course Details - FMS is mostly known for its marketing curriculum, given that all marketing big wigs come for campus placement and offer good roles. Resources - FMS has a library, albeit, not an exhaustive centre. However, since it is a part of the Delhi University, the students can get access to the university library. The method of teaching is mostly classroom based. Most professors believe in having discussions rather than dictating notes and having a one sided communication. Professors are easily accessible, even outside teaching hours. They're quite keen on having an open communication with the students.

Fees and Scholarships

4.5

Since the admission through FMS is through a competitive entrance exam - CAT - there are no scholarships on offer. However, FMS does have reservation for socially backwards classes like OBC/SC/ ST. Fees of FMS is quite low, around 10k for the school year (hostel/ PG separate). There are no financing options available in the college. This is not applicable for FMS.

Clubs and Associations

4

There are multiple professional clubs which the students can opt to join. The most important one is the placement committee which is responsible for placing the students, both for internship and finals. Apart from that, there are the following - - marketing club: responsible for marketing events/ activities (guest lectures, etc) - finance club: responsible for finance related events/ activities (guest lectures, etc) - HR club: responsible for HR related events/ activities (guest lectures, etc) - e cell: entrepreneurship club to associate with start ups - media club: responsible for how FMS is projected in the media (social and print) Sports culture is not strong at FMS. One inter-college tournament between the colleges of DU takes place, mostly for football and cricket. Sometimes small intra-FMS tournament like badminton is organized.

Fees & Scholarships : 20,000 for 2 years. Enough said. No EMI's to be paid after graduation. So, effectively pay packages are more than other B-schools at least for the initial years.

Academics & Faculty : Faculty of FMS is very good. They have a huge experience. Apart from that, 90% attendance has been made compulsory in FMS and that makes students good in academics. There is semester system here, with each subject faculty taking mid term tests.
