Placements and Internships

2.5

  • As I am in First Year so there are no Internships but yeah after FE you can do anything you want after letting the college know about it.
  • Companies from all around Pune come to the Placement Drive conducted in common for all the Sinhgad Group Colleges. But mainly the IT Companies hire in this college irrespective of your branch.
  • The placement is good for Comp, IT, EC & Mech.
  • The average salary is around 3 lacs per annum and gone highest to Rs 6+ LPA in the Computer Branch.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

3

  • There is a slight problem on the hostel point of view because there is no college hostel but there are several private hostels behind as well as in front of the college. There are mostly local people in the college but the private hostels are also good. Some students also rent a flat and live in groups of 5-6.
  • The cost of cot basic room starts from Rs 2000/- somewhat far from college and goes to Rs 2500/- per month for a room of three just next to the college.
  • There are messes in the hostels and also a private mess as well which serve good quality food and ranges around 3000/- per month. There is also a canteen in college which serves healthy food on reasonable rates.
  • Many students do their breakfast as well as lunch in the college canteen. Per meal, the cost is 50/-.
  • The college is a C-shaped building in which one side is the school till class 10th. So the college is basically an L-shaped one. There are many classrooms on every floor with projectors in all the classrooms.
  • There are separate labs for every branch in the first year. There are separate floors for every branch from the second year.
  • All the labs are well equipped and the teachers have good knowledge of the instruments as well.
  • The library is a small room with lots and lots of book to choose from. But there is a huge reading hall for the students with tables and chairs and sockets for laptops.
  • The reading hall opens when college opens and is open till 7:00 pm and so is the library. The campus is blessed with a fully functioning wifi as well.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • For this college, one has to give MHT CET conducted by the DTE Maharashtra (www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in).
  • I was from the All India Quota so I came to give the paper to Pune which was held in the month of May. After the results are declared the counselling is held at various places in Maharashtra.
  • I scored a 91/200 which was a pretty low score and being an All India student I couldn't get a better college.
  • For the Home University students it was, I think so, easy to get BE Comp but in every college, the All India Quota is the toughest.
  • The cutoff was highest 121/200 in Comp (2016). The better side of this college is that it is a part of the well-known Sinhgad group of Pune.

Academics and Faculty

4

  • The college functions 5 day a week which is very good for students. The timings for the first year are 8:00 am to 4:15 pm and sometimes it gets till 5:15 pm.
  • The day consists of 7 lecture of 1 hour each, two 15 mins break and one 45 mins lunch break. The 7 periods contains lectures, labs, workshops, etc.
  • There are many assignments to be completed in every semester and it must be done seriously because it contains marks which are summed up for term work at the end of sem.
  • There are three phases of examinations, two online(25M each) and one theory(written)(50M). A student must pass all of them separately (40%) or else have to give it again next sem.
  • The teachers are experienced and most of them are PHD's in their respective subjects.
  • Some of them also have their books published in the international market as well.
  • Teachers are friendly and helpful and always thinks for the betterment of the students.
  • Overall the college experience is good and the college is just like a school in a good as well as a bad way.

Fees and Scholarships

2

  • The fees are directed by the government but at my time of the first year, it was 92000/- per year for OPEN category. The fees are lowered according to caste.
  • There are scholarships for every type of student that is a Maharashtra resident.
  • The scholarship for open category is known as EBC which is based on your performance in college.
  • Mostly everybody gets the scholarship because everything is based on merit in college.
  • There is also an option to get a student loan but it's better not to get one because it starts to make mental pressure on the child.

Clubs and Associations

5

  • The central attraction is the Sinhgad Karandak which is held every year in which all the colleges participate making it one of the biggest college events in Pune.
  • All the Sinhgad group colleges participate and the events are distributed in every college of the group.
  • The college life is good, in general, and the teachers are also good.
