Placements and Internships
- Unlike computer science or electrical degrees in engineering, if the primary goal of a student is to get placed right after engineering - this isn't the best option.
- It's a field that requires an incredible degree nuance that comes only when a Master's degree is pursued.
- During the 4 years at MSRIT, I worked at Novozymes at the Quality and Control department for enzyme testing mechanisms, National Center for Biological sciences at the Biodiversity and Ecological sciences lab and Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics at University of Agricultural Sciences.
- The work I did was very research oriented and in my opinion, working in a lab outside college that has very stringent requirements is the best way to learn.
- However, a lot of students opt to take jobs at Accenture, TCS, Infosys on competition of their degree.
- The highest salary figure in these places is around Rs 6-7 lakhs per annum but most students pursue their masters, on completion of which they earn an upwards of Rs 17-20 lakhs per annum.
- The alumni of this college is extremely helpful, working in the field abroad in various aspects and interactive with any of our queries.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- I'm a day scholar so I'm not aware of the hostel.
- Many PGs are located very close to college with sensible rates.
- Food in college is diverse.
- Everything from South Indian Thali to north Indian meals and Chinese fast food is available.
- The costs are very nominal, ranging from Rs 20 to 70.
- The college is equipped with wifi, contains a library for each department and 3 main libraries and spacious labs and classrooms.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
- For a BE in Biotechnology, it isn't required for students to study Biology in the 11th and 12th.
- KCET and COMEDK entrance exams test only Physics, Chemistry and Math so it's important to prepare specifically for these subjects by doing a lot of practice tests.
- To get admitted with CET scores, it is generally a lot easier to secure admissions if the board exam aggregate is above 85% besides scoring well in the CET papers.
- COMEDK, however, doesn't require board exam scores and is contingent only on how the student performs in the ComedK entrance test.
Academics and Faculty
- Classes begin by 9 and go on till 3.
- There are 3 internal tests and 1 final examination for theory subjects and 1 internal and final for lab exams.
- Class assignments such a presentations, projects and group discussions are held routinely.
- The quality and method of teaching are very good at MSRIT.
- The teachers are all very well qualified, forthcoming and interactive. College is great.
Fees and Scholarships
- The course fee depends on if the admission is through KCET of COMEDK.
- KCET course fee is around 50,000 INR annually and COMEDK is around Rs 1,00,000 annually.
- Multiple scholarships based on academic prowess and financial background is provided.
- Loans aren't particularly needed to fund this at MSRIT.
Clubs and Associations
- MSRIT is known for extracurriculars.
- We are actively involved in everything from sports to theatre to debating to dance groups and singing.
- The student activity clubs in college is something I'm grateful for being a part of. It plays a very integral role in self-improvement during the course.
- There are various fests conducted each year such as this IEEE fest, shout out theatre fest, Rajyotsava day fest and our main event which is Udbhav.
- We have multiple events happening every month and being a part of the debating society, the exposure you get and events that the college lets students conduct to improve and hone skills of various clubs are brilliant.
