Placements and Internships

  • I have done an internship in BEML Limited, Mysuru. It was a nice experience.
  • Key IT, Management, R&D sectors, Production companies come for placements in The National Institute of Engineering, Mysore.
  • Average salary is 5lakh per annum and highest is 14lakh per annum for CS and IS core companies.
  • Around 70% students from all branches get placed.
  • The alumni network is good in NIE.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

  • There are two hostels in NIE, each for boys and girls. Boys hostel fee approximately INR 60,000 per year and girls hostel fee is INR 70,000 per year.
  • PGs are available outside the college at affordable rates. Usually, it will be around INR 4000 per month including food.
  • The quality of food in NIE is not that great and the average 
  • The infrastructure is outdated. The labs are well maintained and the library is great. We have a digital library too. Free wifi is available for all registered students.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • The eligibility criteria to get into The National Institute of Engineering, Mysore was CET and COMEDK scores. I took CET exam and the typical cut-off for the mechanical branch was around 5000 rank (CET) in the first round and 10,000 rank in consecutive rounds. 

Academics and Faculty

  • The class timings are quite good in NIE. The daily routine is from 7:30am to 5:30pm. Projects and assignments are given time to time. The quality and method of teaching are average in NIE. The teachers are well experienced and qualified.

Fees and Scholarships

  • The course fee is INR 22,000 PA in NIE.
  • Scholarships such as MHRD are availed by the students. On an average 30% of the students get scholarships. 
  • Loans are necessary but not easily available. Currently Syndicate bank provides loans for students.

Clubs and Associations

  • There are a lot of student societies in NIE. There is an entrepreneurship cell called Onyx and SAE NIE under Society of Automotive Engineers, IEEE and much more. The main cultural fest of our college is TECHNIEKS and other technical fests like ATF from mechanical, Aakar from civil, ECE fest and much more.
  • Life in college is cheerful, peaceful and enthusiastic.
