College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- In UIET, there are 8 Boys hostel 9, Girls hostel and separate hostel for International students. Hostels have facilities such as Mess, Canteen, Gym, Parking for any Vehicle like car, Bike, cycle. Tuck shops Every hostel has Common Room to watch T.V., read the newspaper, magazine, Table Tennis room, carrom. For girls, there are washing machines available in every hostel.
- University provides Buses for free and E-rikshaw for 10 rupees for transportation. As university is in Sector -14, there are a lot of PG facilities in Sector -15.which is just opposite to university
- The university has also its own market, dispensary, post office, banks, library. Apart from sector-15, there are other sectors which provide PGs at very affordable rate.
- As there are Different departments in University, there are canteens for each department and the food is of good quality. In U.I.E.T itself, there is canteen where you can have a meal at any time during college.
- University has its own STUDENT CENTRE (STUC), where every kind of food from north to south Indian is available outside the university there is NFS(Night Food Stand) which remains open from 9 pm. to 8 am.
- The food in hostel is provided by the mess. It basically includes lunch and dinner which charges only INR 35 per plate.
- Wifi is provided to all university students and for hostel students, it charges 150 rupees only for 3 months. The speed of wifi is also good. approximately 2-3 Mbps maximum.
- AC Joshi is the main library of the university where you can study 24 X 7. U.I.E.T. has also its own library. In classrooms, we have projector based lectures. some of them are fully ACs. Labs also have ACs.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
- Eligibility Criteria in University Institute of Engineering and Technology, [UIET] Panjab University, Chandigarh is a minimum of 40% in grade 12 and 60% in JEE MAINS.
- The entrance exam which is required to get into UIET is JEE MAINS.
- The typical cutoffs vary year to year.
Academics and Faculty
- The daily routine in UIET is excellent. The Class Timings varies as the timetable is decided by branch coordinators. In the first and second year you have 5-6 subjects and timings varies according to labs and lectures. The usual class timings are from 9AM to 5PM.
- There is Semester based system so there are Final exams at the end of each semester.
- There are 2 sessionals or internal exams.
- The gap between them is about 1.5 months.
- Marks are based on your total marks in finals and best of one out of sessionals
- Credits from labs are also included.
- There is CGPA system and the percentage is calculated by multiplying CGPA by 10.
- In labs, you have to perform practically and theoretically.
- In every lab which is scheduled every week , you have to do file evaluation & finally, Viva will decide your performance.
- You get assignments and practicals for each subject.
- Quiz System is there and you have a minimum of 2 quizzes in each semester.
- Marks based on best out of two are given.
- Presentations based on the project you get is also scheduled accordingly.
- The attendance of minimum 75% is required. if you don't have this much of attendance then you have to submit Medical certificate.
- The Quality of teaching is good here. you have to be a hard working person. and you have to prepare yourself to get knowledge, not for the marks. some faculty members have good knowledge but some don't have.faculty also helps in project and career guidance.
- My experience in UIET is overall good.
Fees and Scholarships
- The course fee is INR 72,882 PA in UIET.
- Scholarships are provided to the students having family income less than 2.5 lakh.
- Other than these scholarships you can also apply for off-campus scholarships like IOCL.
- No, you don't need any loans as fee structure is so good that you can afford the needs.
Clubs and Associations
- Goonj is the main festival of U.I.E.T.
- This festival is organised my college itself and big celebrities and singers like Falak Shabir had come.
- This fest goes for 3-4 days. on each day different games and technical games/ competitions are organised.
- Apart from this, there are other fests that are organised in the university like AGAAZ,JHANKAR etc.
- There are also seminars and competitions also.
- College life is full of thrills and enjoyment.
- The main thing that matters is that you have to open yourself and explore your interest.
- One should try to taste every different phase of college life.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The eligibility criteria to get admission in University Institute of Engineering and Technology is through All India Jee Main Rank. cut off for Computer Science or IT must fall under AIR 30000. Other branches such as Electronics and Communication engineering (ECE), Mechanical engineering, Electrical, and Electronics engineering (EEE) and Biotechnology need an AIR below 9000. Admissions are purely based on JAC Counselling.
