Placements and Internships

3.5

  • Since it’s an engineering course, anything type of internship has to be pursued at an individual level.
  • The college will cooperate with you in terms of you attending the college & internship, but still, full-time internship is not allowed.
  • The college gives placements to students mainly in tech related field for Computer Science Students.
  • Software developer & tester are most common positions with Network engineer coming second.
  • Some of the recruiters are Persistent, L & T Infotech, Syntel, KPIT, FSS etc. which hire from Prof Ram Meghe College of Engineering and Management, [PRMCEM] Amravati.
  • The college manages to place almost 80-90% of people who are eligible & are interested in placements.
  • The reason this figure is so high is because there are many BPOs as well as KPOs too besides the gamut of the core tech related companies mentioned earlier.
  • The average salary figure is generally Rs 2 Lakhs per annum where the highest salary figure usually is Rs 3.5 Lakh CTC.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4

  • The college has 4 buildings & a playground. The buildings house various departments – 1st-year dept., CSE, EEE, EXTC & Civil dept., administration office, Principal’s office, library etc.
  • The college does not have a hostel. Private PG & rooms for rent are available costing anything from Rs 1500 to 4000 a month, depending on where you live.
  • The college canteen provides mainly fast food with the cost being the usually available outside.
  • There are a number of eateries outside college too. The college takes care of the food being hygienic.
  • The classrooms are airy & spacious. Each class has a projector, PC & other teaching aids.
  • Many classrooms are Air Conditioned.
  • The college campus is Wi-Fi enabled, however, its use is not encouraged during classrooms.
  • The department lab is decent with plenty of computers & OS in them.
  • The library is good with many books available. General aptitude books are also present with Newspapers, magazines & E-magazines.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • To get into this college, I gave Maharashtra state MHT CET entrance examination which is common for colleges across Maharashtra to get into Engineering.
  • The eligibility criteria are that you have to be HSC or Diploma (in which case you take admission to 2nd year).
  • Also, you need to score above 50 % in each of Physics, Chemistry & Maths field individually.]
  • The typical cut-off is somewhere around 80-85.

Academics and Faculty

4.5

  • The college is bit strict in first year & a bit in the second year.
  • The 1st year especially is a bit like school. However, once specialisation begins in the second year, the rules are relaxed & it feels like college.
  • The college cares a lot about punctuality, so 75% attendance is mostly mandatory to achieve good internal marks.
  • There are 8 main university exams, one for every semester. The college tries to integrate real world teaching with the bookish knowledge.
  • However, this is not always the case as in the end, when there is the portion to complete before exams, books are given priority.
  • The quality of teaching is usually good, with an occasional brilliant teacher for one subject being balanced by a mediocre one for another.
  • All the teachers, however, are always ready to help at Prof Ram Meghe College of Engineering and Management, [PRMCEM] Amravati.
  • The overall experience in college will always be memorable no matter what happens, as those are the days you’ll enjoy & remember in the end.
  • The teaching & other college activities help in partially moulding you for the future & not just for job but overall life itself.

Fees and Scholarships

4.5

  •  The average course fees hover around Rs. 85,000 per year, with a fee hike once every four or five years at Prof Ram Meghe College of Engineering and Management, [PRMCEM] Amravati.
  • All the scholarships & concessions provided by the Government are available like OBC, SC, religious minority, EBC etc.
  • Besides this, the college gives private scholarships every year too.
  • Those are given to the top performer in the respective year. The usual scholarship 50% tuition fee being waived.
  • Generally, all the students who apply for government scholarships get them.
  • The private scholarships are only given to one person per year, so it’s very difficult.
  • Loans can be available from SBI bank gives interest-free loans.

Clubs and Associations

3.5

  • There are two main festivals in the college – the annual college gathering & the annual tech festival. The sports week also takes place during this week at Prof Ram Meghe College of Engineering and Management, [PRMCEM] Amravati.
  • Both occur during the early part of summer semester i.e. January or February. Creativity is encouraged in these events.
  • The overall experience in college will always be memorable no matter what happens, as those are the days you’ll enjoy & remember in the end, especially the college festival days.
