Placements and Internships
- Placement scenario of IIT(ISM) Dhanbad is better than any other IIT in geology dept.
- Internships are being hired by a lot of good companies. Some companies pay stipends also.
- A huge alumni network works for IIT(ISM) and it helps us in maintaining institute industry relationship.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- Very good infrastructure throughout the campus.
- Greenery is maintained.
- Hostels are having hygienic and a studyable environment.
- Classrooms are well equipped.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
- I had to give ISMEE 2015 and got All India Rank 3 in merit basis, now after conversion to IIT(ISM) Dhanbad, the entrance will be IIT JAM 2016. Eligibility criteria for appearing in the exam is you must have completed your graduation career in geology with having two subjects from physics, chemistry and mathematics.
- Mostly for general students cut off goes in and around 60 marks out of 100 marks paper. For obc students, it is in and around 50 out of 100 and for sc, it is 40-45 whereas for st candidates it is in and around 35-40 out of 100.
Academics and Faculty
- Good and experienced faculties work over here.
- very good teacher-student relationship works over here.
- Academics is good as well, student-friendly in nature.
Fees and Scholarships
- Fees are nominal as any other IITs and Sc and ST do not suppose to pay any tuition fee to study IIT(ISM) Dhanbad.
- Rather all students are getting some sort of scholarships funded by the institute itself.
- A number of scholarships are being provided to students on annual basis.
Clubs and Associations
- A number of student societies and clubs work day and night over here.
- Some NGOs are also available in campus itself..
- The main cultural festival is SRIJAN. It's huge.
- There is numerous other festival are celebrated throughout the year i.e. concetto(tech), parakram(sports), manthan(culturo management), basant(alumni meet), etc.
- Life at IIT(ISM) is worth it.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The entrance into IIT Dhanbad is through IIT JEE. The eligibility criteria is 12th pass with an aggregate of minimum 60% in PCM. The Cut-off varies every year.
Academics & Faculty : Daily routine is not good. Quality of teaching is not good. Overall college experience is good.
