There are few companies that offer internship through college.
This year we had an internship drive, where many companies came to offer internships, but hopefully, they continue this tradition in the coming years.
But otherwise, I have seen most of my friends do internships that they had applied outside.
But this is not a necessity for a student to get placed.
Key companies that hire There are many IT related companies and few core related companies that come to hire each year.
Nearly 100+ companies including all the sectors come each year. The roles they offer differs.
They hire students for different roles both technical and managerial roles. Salary figures and placement There is assurance of hundred percent 100% placement.
But nearly 50% ( this is just my assumption) of the students also choose to go for higher education.
However, few of them sit for the placements just to have a backup.
As far as the salary figure goes, this year the highest salary offered was Rs 17 lakhs by Amazon.
However, not all companies offer such a high salary.
The lowest salary figure would be around Rs 3 lakhs.
But then again not all companies offer this less a salary.
The alumni network, in opinion, is pretty good for a college which is just 17- 18 years old.
We often come across students from our college getting admission into one of the top 100 universities all over the world for higher studies.
And in the case of management higher education, the students aim to get into top 50 business schools in India.
And as far as the companies that come to hire students, we are often appreciated for the quality of students that they hired the previous year.
I would say, SSN is definitely developing a good alumni network.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
There are 2 U.G. (B.E. and BTech) courses with 8 different branches that SSN offers.
You can get admitted for one of those courses in either of the two ways - DOTE or Management.
And of course, there is NRI quota as well.
To get admission through DOTE, you need to go through Anna University counselling for which you need to fill a separate application form.
The Anna University counselling is a huge process where students will be given a date once the counselling starts according to the marks they have scored in their 12th standard.
So, on the day of your counselling, if you have seats available in SSN for the particular course that you desire, you can block them.
The minimum cutoff for which students usually get admitted through DOTE in SSN varies every year but usually, it is between 195- 198 for General category but again for other categories it differs.
For management quota, the students have to fill a separate application form given by SSN ( you can get it from the college or their office in Mylapore, CHENNAI).
Once you have filled the form, you will be called for an examination and interview based on your 12th standard cutoffs again.
If you have studied in state board, your cutoffs will be taken as it is and if you're a CBSE or ICSC or any other international board student, they will add +5 to your cutoff.
The shortlisting based on this again varies each year. Usually, the minimum cutoff is around 192-195 ( after the addition if you are a CBSE or international board student). On the day your counselling for management, you will be asked to give an online examination ( contains mostly aptitude) and an interview.
While application, you would have chosen 3 courses in decreasing order of priority!!! Based on this and your score in examination and interview, students will be given admission.
However, you can attend both these options and choose what is best for you, in terms, of course, offered , fees, etc.
But the students from DOTE and management will share the same classroom for that particular course.
