Placements and Internships

3

  • It is quite a happy-go if not fabulous campus.
  • Godrej, Accenture, etc and some quite well to do companies hire from this campus.
  • But be sure to get the required grades to get placed from PIIT.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

3.5

  • The hefty fee is spent on uncertain things like decorating the college at frequent intervals. Classrooms are spacious at PIIT Mumbai unless counting on the number of students joining back after a year break.
  • Canteen had been in a very bad shape, but now is a state of art canteen. Still, lacks basic amenities like a buffet and though with large cafeteria, always seems crowded during peak hours.
  • Be sure to shell out a moderate to a heavy amount if you want to enjoy a good meal. Yes, the canteen has 98% rice as its serving.
  • Be prepared to be satisfied with South Indian snack or a local popular, if rice isn't your favorite.
  • Hostel fee is sometimes pocket burning, still, you may look around for a PG, lot of options are available as in Adai gaon or best as Sukapur. Else some residential flats are available but bachelors probably aren't allowed.
  • The college has a parking problem, hence don't dare to park your vehicles at uncertain places besides the college, a towing van always roams by. Restrooms have got no privacy unless recently constructed bathrooms, but still of no use if you want to use it for long. This talk is about boy's restrooms.
  • Librarian is a deep sea monster if you get her irritated. Talk less smile more, act childish and you will maximum be sneered at or ignored. That's a relief.
  • Library's got the whole set of books, but mostly of advanced written language. Teacher's notes of the classroom help, be regular. About 2 hostels for girls and boys each are available, kindly check with the office.
  • From or for Rs. 50, a dal-khichdi or for more amount, a fried rice plate.
  • Non-veg items are in demand. Fruit juices available both in and outside of college. Food is served good and can also be asked for in a parcel form. Hostels are in good shape, infrastructure is good. But gets hot water only once a day for each student.
  • One of the advantages of staying in a separate house is the convenience of getting a clean bathroom and a good undisturbed bath.
  • College provides for hostel inmate's food at a nominal rate, but mostly during day hours at night, I suppose one has to depend on outside sources.
  • The cost for a room is about Rs. 2500 approx. on rent. Much better than the hostel, where ironing one's clothes had been banned once.
  • No electric gadgets were allowed. The college has wifi, but can only check a few meaningful sites.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • In my days it was MHCET nowadays a basic JEE MAIN entrance examination might do.
  • Cut-offs aren't sharp hence relax.
  • Yes, you have a chance especially for in-demand courses.
  • Donations are also another option and especially for those who want it economic in nature.

Academics and Faculty

3

  • Teaching is good, though in a jiffy way (at least some) at PIIT.
  • More time to get acquainted with the new surroundings.
  • Timings change every few days at the beginning, but still, suit short distance travelers.
  • Approx.: 9. 00 am to 5. 00 pm, +/- half hour.
  • Assignments are to be completed on time, some do it at the last moment.
  • Grades are seldom compromised within the first year.
  • Practicals are a self-study if you have a basic knowledge then it's fine, else you are a loser.
  • The staff explains well, but chances of self-learning are low.
  • The library is not a place to study unless clearing some short doubts.
  • The library staff is mostly rude to students, hence keep smiling.

Fees and Scholarships

2

  • A hefty course fees for a simple college.
  • Loans are needed if you are from an economically poor background.
  • The scholarship is awarded to a certain deduction of the fee during 2010 for good grades.
  • The course fee is Rs. 1, 14, 000 onwards at PIIT Mumbai.
  • The fee must be paid at once.
  • No installment options are available.
  • Yes, some schemes are there for economically backward class recognized students.

Clubs and Associations

3

  • IEEE, in general, is famous for being visited by toppers since weak students don't stand a chance.
  • Fees for IEEE are somehow unacceptable but worth it. There's also a Student Council for top three toppers of each class.
  • There are many other clubs for entertaining oneself but might affect your grades. IEEE is a good club but might lose your interest if you are
  • n't tough and dedicated.
  • The life in this college is quite peaceful at the start and then becomes hectic during submissions. As ever it's a rat race, for engineering students.
  •  The teaching staff is very good. One has to keep pace with what is being taught, teachers aren't available at the last moment.
  •  Class tests are easy and one can relax for the marks.
  • Projects are a fun at PIIT. But as life feels smooth at the start it goes tumbling down later. Hence be prepared for everything at the beginning itself.
