Placements and Internships
- I have done an internship with UPTEC Varanasi with no stipend while studying in IMS Engineering College , Ghaziabad. TCS is the key company which hires from my campus.
- Average salary package in last year batch was about 2 LPA(Lakh per annum), Highest package was 6.2 LPA(only one student), only 30-40% students got hired from college and almost 70% from B.Tech(Computer Science Engineering) but this year, not a single placement has taken place in our college accept a girl from IT department who got selected for 8 LPA in an off-campus placement.
- The college management is saying that we are waiting for TCS to come to our college,till then TCS is not allowing any company to organize placement in our college.
- Alumni network of my college is vast as few of them are working abroad and a lot of them are spread all over India but we the current students have no interaction with them at all.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- There are three hostels for boys and one for girls. Hostel is average, food is not totally hygienic, there is a very good ground to play and it is open for hostelers 24*7(this is the only and best thing about the hostel) and some sports equipment are also provided by hostel, and also there is a gym in which some basic instrument of gym are available but the trainer is worst I have seen. Hostel fee is about Rs.6000 per month.
- There are some PGs and rooms for rent available in 2-3 km range from college and the expenditure there is about Rs.6000.
- Food in college us of hostel quality and costs Rs.50 per meal. And also there are two canteens having a range of food for different cost(almost as an average restaurant) but the quality is average.
- Classes are of average size that is almost 70 students can seat and there is no ACs in classrooms(except first year classes which got ACs last year), Labs are average with below average quality ACs(only in some labs most of them do not have ACs), Library is very good with almost all books required and different newspapers and also magazines, wifi is only available to hostelers, Drinking water is not of good quality(no RO system installed)
Entrance Exams and Admissions
- Eligibility criteria for admissions in IMS Engineering College, Ghaziabad are 12th pass and clear UPSEE entrance examination.
- I took UPSEE entrance exam and secured rank 15535.
- The cutoff for my course is according to the entrance merits. When I got admission it was securing UPSEE rank under 25000 .
Academics and Faculty
- Classes in IMS Engineering College, [IMSEC] Ghaziabad are from 8:50 am to 4:20 pm with 50 min. classes, project are not assigned innovative, exams and assignments are good.
- Quality and method of teaching are very poor, the teacher comes to the class and just dictate the notes made by them and we are said to learn it, no any real life example is given to make it understandable to all. It's worst then even school.
- Overall my college experience is Not good.
Fees and Scholarships
- The total fee for my course is Rs.1,10,050 per year of IMS Engineering College, [IMSEC] Ghaziabad.
- Scholarship option available for us is only UPScholarship offered by Uttar Pradesh Government.
- Only few student(Almost every SC/ST student and 8-10% of the rest) got a scholarship.
- A loan is needed but the procedure to avail it is very complex.
Clubs and Associations
- There are few student societies or clubs like HUMANS(deals with social work), Art Club(deals with extracurricular but Dead right now).
- The main festival celebrated here are Chakravyuh(sports fest), Diwali nights(Before Diwali),Mech-fest(organised by the mechanical department of my college) and few non-fixed events organised by different departments.
- In general life in college is below average, it almost feels like I m in school.
