Vignesh Manickam's Review on Christ University, Bangalore

The University offers a yearly course each year for every christite in order to make their profile more efficient. The internship programmes are offered only for the second year students. The university has a good base of placements. There are number of companies which offers career for most of the christites. Few famous companies are Futures First, Tally, DHL and many more. Average salary offered by these companies range from Rs 3.5 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs. Christ University has an alumni website page in internet that speaks about the university news and many more.

The University has three hostels at three different places separately for boys and girls. The hostel fee costs monthly about Rs.5,500 without the accomodation of the food, which makes it very expensive. A lot students prefer staying out of the college instead of paying a huge money for the university hostel which is without the food. The students who decided to stay outside has plenty of PGs and private hostels separately for boys and girls. The fee starts from Rs.5000 (with food), which increases by the luxury and the number of sharing of the PG. The University has four canteens which provides hygienic foods for the students. The cost of a food item ranges from Rs.40 to Rs.250. The classrooms and labs are well maintained. The lab consists of the high tech lab equipments which helps in the gain of practical knowledge more easier. The University has a well maintained library which contains almost all the topic books. The wifi connection is free all over the campus, but in order to use the wifi, a student must configure his/her laptop from the computer lab. Mobile phones will not be configured by the university. Overall, the infrastructure of the University is excellent comparing to other deemed universities.

It is through the interview by which the Christites are selected. The interview is not as much as complex or a difficult one to achieve. Just a basic knowledge about the course that we have selected and a little bold and braveness makes them select us. In my view, Christ University interview for the B.Sc programme is not a difficult one to achieve. The selection is mainly based on the basic subject knowledge and SSC marks. 

The Christ University follows a strict routine. The class timings starts from morning 9'o clock and ends at evening 4'o clock for the B.Sc students. However, there will be few free hours in between. The method of teaching in christ is good for students who are research minded. The staffs will teach the syllabus portions elaborately and students are allowed to take notes. If they have any doubt in the subject, they could either refer books from the library or consult the subject teacher any time. The University gives us a 'strive hard to survive' experience, which makes us survive at any difficult situations.

The fee structure for B.Sc in christ University is quite low compared to other colleges or the universities. The fee structure is around Rs 35,000 to 50,000 per year. However, the University borrows a huge amount of money in the name of Fines. At my knowledge, the University provides poor scholarship to students. In most of the cases, there is no scholarship for students from states other than karnataka. Most probably, there is no need to get a loan from the bank to pay the fee. However, the programmes like BBA and MBA has a high fee structure, students studying those programmes may need loan. The process of getting loan is made easy by the University's South Indian Bank, which gives a 'loan recommendation letter' to the students during the time of admission. This loan recommendation letter may be shown to the certain banks to get easy loans.

The University has a number of clubs and associations included with it. A student may take part in the clubs and associations by their will. The University possesses a number of festivals for almost all the fields like sports and cultural. It engages some of the leagues to remain active in sports and university festivals like Darpan, Ethnic day, Bhasha Utsav shows the cultural heritage of the university. It also has science fests for science students, by which a christite can compete with other college students also. Honestly speaking, the life in college is very nice and motivating in nature.
