Placements and Internships

2.5

  • There is a lot of craze for the company Deloitte which is among the first few to visit the campus each year and it provides a package of 7 lakhs roughly. It picks up close to 90 people.
  • Highest package was provided by Amazon(28 Lakhs) which selected only one student after a programming round and 3 or 4 rigorous online interviews. It was followed by MuSigma which selected 10 students.
  • Most of the students including those from Mechanical,Civil, Electrical and Electronics branches get placed in IT firms and service oriented companies.I got placed in Accenture(3.5Lakhs), Cognizant(3.3Lakhs) and Infosys(3.3Lakhs).Besides these, the list includes Wipro, Tech Mahindra. This year IBM also made a visit and recruited 150 ,etc.
  • Microsoft picked up 10 people for consulting positions.
  • Other prominent companies include BookMyShow, SAP, HP R&D, Flipkart,  etc.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • To get into KIIT for engineering, one has to take the KIIT Entrance Examination(KIITEE) which is followed by the counselling session where candidates are allotted branches as per their rank.
  • One should have at least 60% in all subjects in the 10th and 12th board exams although depending on the situation there might be some relaxation.
  • To get into Information Technology, cut off is very low while the cutoff for CSE is very high because no one wants to get into IT while CSE is the first choice of the majority.
  • I am IT and my rank was 13k while all the CS seats were filled at about 5k.
  • But the anomaly is that both are treated the same way for the 4 years of the course and the subjects taught are also the same for 3 years. It is only in the 4th year that a couple of subjects might be different.
  • Also, most of the companies coming in for recruitment are either IT companies or related to CSE. So if you are planning on coming here, trying sticking to either of these two.

Fees and Scholarships

1.5

  • The course fee per semester is 1,43,500 that is 2,87,00 per year. There is a major scholarship on the fees for the three first year toppers.
  • Whether or not a loan is needed depends on one's financial background.KIIT is definitely not for people who have a weak financial background.KIIT has partnered with some of the banks to provide student loans to students who make it past the counseling round.
  • If you are poor and you have to choose between trying next year and joining KIIT, I would advise you try next year.
