There is no girls hostel facility due to which they have to take up the option of PGs which in general is not preferred by parents. Food in the canteen is reasonable but unhealthy. Healthy options are limited and seem unhygienic. Quality of classrooms is okay but sometimes due to paucity of space, students have to stand or sit on the floor. Don't know much about labs and haven't availed wifi services.
Eligibility criteria is 96% and above in humanities (best of 4). No entrance exam is necessary. Although, an entrance will ensure standardization across all boards.
Classes start at 8 :40a.m and end by 12:40 p.m for my course. Scope for conceptual understanding exists as right now not much emphasis is given on that. Assignments instead of class tests are a better way of testing and ensuring that students revise almost all topics.
In general, it is more exam focused studying as compared to concurrent and conceptual learning.
Fees in Hans raj college is atmost 15k per year haven't researched about scholarships, but I am sure they are available. Student loans can also be availed.
Student communities or societies are eclectic in their nature. There is a society for any activity. Some of them are registered and the others simply function because students like the activity. The vibrancy of college life is maintained because of the enthusiasm of the students in these societies. Most of these societies are all student run (quiz, dance, music, debating, creative writing, culinary, poetry) In general, in a scenario where academics is dry (because of the exam oriented pedagogy) involving yourself in societies becomes a saving grace.
