• There is practically nothing like good internship from college in mechanical department. In our batch only 2 students got internships from college, one in St gobain and other in DESL. Ford also took the test and then we were informed that it was for 6 months internship so it was finally cancelled after selection of 3 students.
• Many companies do visit like, core: Tata motors, Godrej agrovet, MSIL, SML Isuzu, IOLCP, SKF Bearings, Hero motorcorp, Honda 4wheelers, Mahindra, L&T, Vedanta, etc. Bussiness analyst: EXL, Musigma, Futures first, etc. But very few are hired and the placement procedure doesn't seem to actually filter the deserving ones.
• Core companies offer package around Rs 4-6 LPA. exceptions are there like vedanta Rs 9+lpa and ashok leyland Rs 3 LPA something
  BA companies offer higher packages.

Infrastructure is fantastic. 

We now have Mega hostel with 6 blocks. It is like a big hotel, except the frequent running out of water problem, and occasional death of crows in the tanker of drinking water over the building which is detected after weeks.

Lecture hall is fantastic. Couldn't have been better.

But

When it comes to important things, the departmental building is like one of those 1960s ones, with labs having few equipments that actually run. IC engines lab is good all engines work. FM lab - Dont even know what's in there. only one turbine has been operated in the past few years and that too runs if you're lucky

There are few labs which I don't know why they call labs

SOM lab is good. ALmost everything works and almost everyone knows how to operate those machines

Food is OK priced. Not too expensive not too cheap.

• As we all know, we need to clear JEE Mains entrance examination with a good rank to get admission here at NITJ.
• Cutoff for mechanical branch at our time was around 18k for general category and 23k for OBC category. Mine was 22608.

• There are 2 batches in mechanical. The first group gets most of the permanent faculty and the other one in which I am, gets all the adhocs. This creates Huge difference in the level of education. If I knew this was the level of education which I'll recieve here, I WOULD HAVE GONE TO SOME PRIVATE COLLEGE INSTEAD! Where I can at least get some CG and go for MS. The level of permanent faculty for first group is very good. Extremely good. But adhocs don't know anything. Even the guys with backlog in the subject at times know more than them

• Our course fee is low approx Rs 28000 per sem as compared to juniors who have been admitted after us. 
• There is no scholarship given by college to the students

• There are n number of societies and events. and n is very high. I can easily name out 10 teams in the college and more than 20 events that take during an year.
• Technical and cultural fests are improving year by year and I dont konw why others dont agree with me very much but I enjoy the life here at NITJ except the teaching, assignments, classes, and the absurd teaching methodoly, etc, but life here is 'mast'.
