Placements and Internships
- There are numerous internship options too.
- Talking about the placements, it is a very big deal here. The first phase is almost a 20 day affair in the month of december. I am not sure of everything related with placements because I am going for higher studies. But the institute webpage offers clear insight into all things related to the placements. Many reports have confirmed the status of the institute as the best college placement wise in India.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
- The admission was through GATE. For my particular discipline there was no interview at the institute. It was all based on the GATE score.
- My GATE score was 813 which got me the Manufacturing Science And Engineering specialization.
Academics and Faculty
- There are classes from 8am in the morning to 6pm in the evening, but these timings includes every elective slot. There will be electives you would't take. So there will be free time in between.
- The professors are all fully qualified and have a lot of knowledge and if you want to gain knowledge they will be more than happy to help. Most professors teach with the help of presentations which they normally forward to the students later.
Fees and Scholarships
- I am from the general quota. The course fee is in the range of Rs. 33000 per semester for me.
- Everyone doing their M.TECH here (apart from the sponsored candidates) are GATE qualified candidates. So they are eligible for the monthly stipend of Rs. 12400.
Clubs and Associations
- There are numerous clubs for every type of student with respect to what they love.
- There are festivals like Spring Fests and Kshitij. They are big affairs.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Eligibility Criteria for the M.tech course at Indian Institute of Technology is the students should have completed his/ her B.tech or BE with minimum 60% marks. The students have to clear the GATE exam, based on that exam ranking you get the admission. For Mechanical course students, the General Category rank should be within 500, for OBC within 1000 & for SC/ST within 5000.
